the song 'combination pizza hut and taco bell' is a reference to the fact that there were two combination pizza hut and taco bells on jamaica avenue

@KoulamVGC The reason she's in Contributor and not Metagame has nothing to do with character strength and everything to do with prevalence. She is much closer to 5-7 than 9-13 in strength, but Fox/Marth/Falco are the most played characters in the game and are the characters you need to beat
English

@akirthehacker What is your thought process for Puff being in the MU contributor ?
I'm happy you didn't put her in Simplifiers but I'm surprised she's not in the metagame. Maybe because of her bad MU against fox ?
English

@KiwiUnderoll Fox adds too much complication on the technical side for me to agree he belongs there. On someone with the requisite mechanics he plays like a simplifier but I believe in-game focus directed towards mechanics is necessarily taken from the mental, which is a detriment
English

@quiescatinpace Ease of use is a big one & I think the ease of use difference translates into tangible advantages in many games. Technical and mental complications reduce the probability of a given play working out, and over the long run it will provide an advantage to a simpler character
English

@Quarant1ned Ganon is a really bad simplifier and strictly in terms of strength on paper is absolutely a tier or two lower, but being a simplifier is the best thing your character can be in Melee and warrants his spot
English

@akirthehacker I think you can definitely bump Ganon down a tier, maybe even two in the current meta.
English

@sharp_ssbm Marth is a simplifier in isolated matchups but his knowledge has to run a mile wide because every non-spacie matchup plays especially differently from one another for him which defeats the purpose IMO. Also has too hard of a time against the simplifiers to put him over Fox for me
English

@akirthehacker Marth is both meta and a simplifier which is why he is the best even if Fox is better on paper, imo.
English

@quiescatinpace It's not random. The Metagame is markedly worse than the characters placed above them which is why they are lower
English

@akirthehacker i agree with the classifications generally but is the ordering just random like why not place the metagame at the top
English

@asdfkart The Simplifiers all destroy the Metagame and in a world where people played characters based solely off strength the Metagame would be far less represented. There are other characters of a similar archetype but they aren't the best at what they do like the Simplifiers. See: Ganon
English

@akirthehacker I think the metagame tier should be placed above game simplifiers, should include puff and should be called ULTIMATE game simplifiers
English

@esemdw He's favorable against 1/3 of the metagame and even against another 1/3 with disproportionate effort expenditure. You can get better results with less effort against the same spread of characters by simply playing a Game Simplifier. Yoshi is solid but a colossal waste of time
English

@akirthehacker Yoshi isn’t niche he’s favorable against 2/3 of the metagame
English

@akirthehacker @Pedlarbepedling Puff imo loses to Fox and Marth, goes even with Falcon, either goes even or wins slightly vs DK, #3 worst matchup for both Sheik and ICs. Falco I don't know too much but I have a feeling it's also winning or even for Puff, no?
English

@BloodravenFGC @Pedlarbepedling In some cases, it's more of a name for the aggregate of the tier. Every Simplifier and Meta character could have a poor matchup or two among the Contributors but overall those characters contribute positively to their spread (except for ICs who is #1 for the rest of their spread)
English

@akirthehacker @Pedlarbepedling but don't they also act as matchup impeders on those same characters?
English

@riennezelda My works may not be appreciated in their time but I am confident they will age like a fine wine
English

@Pedlarbepedling Their importance on this tier list is to further cement the placement of characters in a higher tier by filling out their matchup spread. For example, I have Falco at the bottom of his tier in part because he has the worst Contributor spread of any character in the Metagame

there was literally an entire section of this documentary where milktea and others highlight how not inclusive and disgusting the community would be towards women and lgbt people
Dalton@JustDaltonNow
The ending of this documentary highlights how Smash was truly about bringing people from different walks of life together. At the time, the community was one of the most welcoming spaces in gaming. Comparing that to today, it’s completely unrecognizable. It's now one of the most toxic, bullying, and radicalized communities in gaming.
