Greetings from a beautiful early morning jog in #Berlin It has been exactly 20 years that I started jogging a few days after my 50 th birthday. Out of breath after a few hundred meters in 2003, happy to cover still a few km today

my article about concerns surrounding the safety of Artificial General Intelligence. Can AI models show mental disorder if trained on conflicting data? Can they decide to be deceptive in their communication with other AI agents or models to achieve their objective? @aksamdar/reflections-on-artificial-general-intelligence-agi-safety-10b304788d6d" target="_blank" rel="nofollow noopener">medium.com/@aksamdar/refl… #artificialintelligence #artificialgeneralintelligence #machinelearning

Google's decision to make the .zip top-level domain available could potentially wreak havoc on cybersecurity. Some newly registered .zip domains. 1. auto-gpt-plugins[.]zip 2. chrome-installer[.]zip 3. corporatepackage[.]zip 4. documents-backup[.]zip 5. microsoft-office[.]zip 6. microsoft-update[.]zip Users can easily be tricked to think they are clicking on a link to download a zip file but it could be a URL to a malicious website. In the end infosec teams will will to block all .zip domains to avoid wide spread phishing attacks but that wouldn't provide complete solution. #cybersecurity #infosec #attacksurface #threatlandscape

Have you heard about Mojo 🔥 - This new programming language seems very promising. Its a superset of Python so have exactly same syntax like python and supports all its libraries. It has Structs like C++, Ownership and Borrow-checker like Rust. Supports parallel processing on multiple cores and is 35000x faster than python 👀 Developed by Modular AI which is headed by Chris Lattner who worked in development team for Swift, xcode earlier at Apple. modular.com/mojo #development #ai #python #mojo

Debugged a mysterious hang in a previously-working Docker container, only to find it was because I'd silently run out of disk space. Some failure modes never change 😅.

It takes about a decade to do a startup. Your 20s, 30s, and 40s -- each of them will be ONE startup, if you actually see it through to an exit. New founders -- you're signing up to give a decade of your life (on avg). Still want to do it? Drop me your pitch below 😎

There is no code available for training when it comes to proprietary apps, drivers etc so AI model can't produce anything. Remember, GPT is a Transformer based language model. Its main task is to predict the next word. Therefore if you ask it to write code, it will take the problem (prompt), and try to produce similar looking code on which it got trained i.e., the code available in GitHub which was made to solve similar looking problems. It doesn't have the capability to search the web or read the documentation and learn like humans do. Our jobs are secure for a long time :)

@aksamdar @mcuban @Rbaker92345 Except that chatgpt (or equivalent) could be fueled by github so the information would be transferred to the AI before it becomes generally adopted. Not a great argument for a niche amount of workers.

I started writing code in 1999 and majority of my code is obsolete now. Your AI models are only good if they are trained on latest libraries and tools. There will always be new libraries and tools for which not enough code available to train the AI model. Just good enough for boilerplate or some initial understanding. But can not help in large real world applications specially using newer languages. Example: Give a complex problem to ChatGPT and it can generate some nice sample code in python or JavaScript. Not so good in Rust (till writing of this tweet)

Dont forget that all relevant code already in place will be fed into the model and act as the foundation that will drive responses to prompt engineers that know what the project needs These engineers will replace the entry level coders and as the model gets smarter designers will be in a position to be more creative That’s my take. But I only wrote code for 7 years and it was a while ago :)

@alexiskold Limiting your screen time may help. Also posture as mentioned by someone else. Don't use screen while laying on sofa or bed.

Microsoft is re-writing Windows core libraries in #Rust language because of its memory safety. The focus is on eliminating bug classes which will automatically reduce #attacksurface Microsoft identified 3 tools in the arsenal against bug classes which are: 1. Memory Safe Languages 2. CPU architectural changes 3. Safer language subsets Initially, Microsoft has done a rewrite of a font parser called DWriteCore. They found it incredibly easy and saw performance improvement of 5-15%.  More details in video.. #cybersecurity #infosec youtube.com/watch?v=8T6ClX…
