Light over darkness? Nah. Lord Ram over forgetfulness. Wishing you a Diwali that reminds us why we celebrate — the return of Prabhu Ram, the light of truth, and the peace of homecoming. ✨

In our ancient texts, when the rishis mapped the internal enemies of human consciousness (Shadripu), they listed things like lust (Kama), anger (Krodha) & greed (Lobha). But the ultimate, most subtle virus they identified was Matsarya (मात्सर्य). Modern dictionaries loosely translate Matsarya as jealousy. In Sankhya philosophy, Matsarya is much more sinister. It is defined as the inability to bear the presence/happiness/rise of another being. It is the pain our ego feels simply because someone else exists & is being noticed. X is a platform designed entirely to trigger Matsarya. Every time an individual posts a success/an opinion/a moment of spotlight, it lands directly on the feeds of 1000s of others whose minds are in a state of Asat (restlessness). The ego cannot process the other person's space, so it immediately weaponizes Krodha (anger) as a self-defense mechanism to pull them down. The hatred on X is nothing but millions of bruised egos experiencing Matsarya simultaneously in a digital public square.

UPDATE: Yesterday, we announced what may be the biggest discovery from this ancient vav so far. Today, we can finally show you the visuals. Buried beneath water, mud, and decades of neglect, a centuries-old deity idol has emerged from the depths of the stepwell. For its protection, the idol has been temporarily placed in a nearby temple and will be respectfully returned to its original place in the vav once restoration is complete. What you are seeing today is something no one has witnessed in decades. @RamdootRestores #RevivingHeritage

BIG. VERY BIG. After decades of darkness beneath this 7-storey ancient vav, something extraordinary has finally emerged. While pumping water out through the night, our team discovered a centuries old carved deity idol submerged deep inside the stepwell. This may be the biggest discovery from the vav so far. Visuals awaited. @RamdootRestores #revivingheritage

I have heard of a Zomato loophole which is so simple, terrifying and Zomato should be losing sleep over it A person orders 1 roti on Zomato. ₹40. Then he calls the restaurant directly 6 rotis, paneer butter masala, malai chaap, dal makhani, gulab jamun and pays them on UPI. Tells the restaurant to pack everything with that 1 roti Zomato order. The Zomato rider picks it up. Delivers home. No clue that ₹1,200 of food is riding shotgun with a ₹40 order. He’s using Zomato’s app. Zomato’s rider. Zomato’s entire logistics network and paying zero commission on 90% of his bill. It’s cheaper than booking directly from Porter and restaurant. The restaurant loves it. Full margin, no 25 to 30% Zomato cut. The customer loves it. No platform fee. No surge. No GST on the hidden portion. Zomato? Quietly subsidising the entire operation. And here’s the part nobody’s talking about this isn’t one rogue customer. Restaurants are in on it. They may be whispering this tip to regulars to keep them off the app. If this spreads, the unit economics of food delivery don’t just dip they bleed out from the inside. Zomato needs to plug this loophole. This is exploitation of the system. Zomato MUST do something to stop this. Have you seen this happening in your area?

VIDEO | When asked about what youngsters misunderstand about growing old as the celebrated author is soon going to be 92, Ruskin Bond says, "Look, it can't be helped. When we're young, from the age of five to the age of 15 or 25, we don't know what it is to grow old. So how can we have an deep understanding of it, hmm? I guess it's only when we grow old that we, realise the advantages and disadvantages. And to tell you the truth, I don't mind being old, because I'm still working, I'm still writing, apart from the fact that, I have to stop walking again. And that I'm not seeing well enough to write. But now I dictate my stories. So, but old age has its compensations too. You have your memories. You can appreciate the world around you even more because you know you've only got it for a short time. So time is limited. So you must make the use of it. You know, and one does. So, it's not that young people don't understand the old. It's just that they don't have any experience of being old. And that will come much later." #RuskinBond

Archaeological Survey of India discovers 9th Century CE, sandstone Shiva linga in Vietnam... In 2020, Archeological Survey of India (ASI) recently discovered a monolithic sandstone Shiva linga from the 9th Century CE, during the ongoing conservation project at Mỹ Sơn — a cluster of abandoned and partially ruined Hindu temples in Quảng Nam province in central Vietnam. Indian External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar also applauded the ASI on the discovery, calling it “a great cultural example of India’s development partnership”. He also said that the artefact reaffirmed the “civilisational connect” between India and Vietnam. India and Vietnam share a long, rich civilisational history that dates back to 2,000 years ago when the latter’s first civilised society was established. Champa Civilization or Cham Civilization (192-1832 CE) occupied what is today known as central Vietnam. India’s influence on the Cham civilization ranges from its archaeology to language with city names like Indrapura, Simhapura, Amaravati, Vijaya and Panduranga. “The oldest artifacts of a distinctly Cham civilization, brick flooring, sandstone pillars and pottery found at Tra Kieu in Quang Nam Province—date to 2nd Century CE,” a 2014 report in the National Geographic said. Internationally renowned and award-winning marine archaeologist Robert Stenuit claimed that residents of the Cham civilisation were great sailors and builders. He added that the Cham society also most likely practiced Shaivite Hinduism. When President Ram Nath Kovind visited Vietnam in 2018, he began his journey from Da Nang, where the world heritage site of Mỹ Sơn falls — a place believed to have strong civilisational connect with India and majority Hindu population. Till today, archaeologists continue to discover citadels in this cluster and about 25 temple sites have survived in Vietnam. According to the official website of Vietnam National Administration of Tourism, “Many of their shrines honour Shiva, often shown as a linga, while their carvings depict all manner of Hindu deities. Hindu doctrines were blended with homegrown beliefs, such as their conviction that they were descended from a goddess named Po Nagar, born from heavenly clouds and seafoam.” #archaeohistories

Her name was Priya Rajvansh. She was born Veera Sunder Singh on December 30 1936 in Shimla. Her father was a Forest Department officer. She was the sister of Waheeda Rehman’s husband. After her graduation she joined the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art in London. While she was in London a photograph of hers reached Bombay. Filmmaker Chetan Anand, the brother of Dev Anand, saw it and cast her in his 1964 war film Haqeeqat. It is still counted among the finest war films in Indian cinema. During filming she and Chetan Anand fell in love. He was separated from his wife but not divorced. She chose to stay. For the next two decades she acted only in his films. She contributed to their scripting, lyrics and post production. He never made a film without her. When Chetan Anand stopped directing she stopped acting. They lived quietly in Bombay. In 1997 Chetan Anand died. He left part of his estate to Priya, valued at around Rs 10 crore, alongside his two sons from his first marriage, Ketan and Vivek. A property dispute followed. In her final years Priya wrote handwritten notes and a letter to Chetan’s brother Vijay Anand describing her fear and anxiety. Those letters were later produced as evidence in court. On March 27 2000 she was found murdered at Chetan Anand’s bungalow in Ruia Park, Juhu. The cause of death was strangulation. She was 63 years old. All four accused were convicted in July 2002. Ketan and Vivek Anand were convicted for criminal conspiracy. The domestic staff who carried out the act were convicted for murder. All four were sentenced to life imprisonment. They were granted bail in November 2002. In 2011 the Bombay High Court overturned the convictions of Ketan and Vivek Anand. The case remains pending. She spent 35 years devoted to one man and his work. She was killed for his property. The men convicted of conspiracy in her murder have not spent a single full year behind bars. Follow for stories India deserves to remember.
