If I referred to Napoleon as Boney, would that be common parlance?

An honour and a real surprise to be included in this New Years list! These awards go to individuals, but the work has always been a team effort. We’ve got our work cut out to make sure that the most vulnerable children get a fair chance. Looking forward keeping at it in 2024!

@chamath Nuance in storytelling is the texture in a painting, the subtleties in a symphony, the layers in a novel. It's what transforms a narrative from a mere recitation to an art form.

@hernehillforum A good thing. They mean that I dont need a taxi / uber since I don't own a car. Needs people to park them sensibly of course which is currently hit & miss

Today is Boris Johnson’s last Prime Minister’s Questions. I’ve been successful in the Westminster lotto and so I get to ask him one. What would you like me to ask him? #PMQs

@AGoldmund Thank you, @AGoldmund. Riveting, joyful and sometimes magical. I still look at my thighs every time in the shower and wonder whether to wash them. YYN.

The convention of flashing your hazard lights briefly to say thank you to a car behind. Is this UK only or international. Is it now universal in the UK? When did it start? Did lorry drivers start it? Interesting example of autolinguistics.

If any of you need cheering up this Monday morning, this article about a skatepark in Detroit bears reading - but mainly, watch the video until the 2 minute mark. avclub.com/news-anchor-en…

@Pigeonomics I agree. I bought a high end one and the battery expanded underneath the keyboard then all the keys got stuck. Was told to replace the battery and then it might fix the issue. *might fix*… no thanks. Bought a surface pro instead.

@john_actuary Would you hazard a guess as to when the 45-50yrs olds might expect a text? I had imagined first week of May. Thank for all your reporting.

475k 2nd doses is another record, and by a clear 25k today. The 7D total moves above 2m for the first time, even with two Easter weekend figures still in the figure. As a result, we've recovered recent lost ground, and are now back to 4 days ahead of my 11 week benchmark. 2/2

Sun vaccine update: 586k total doses today, over double last week's depressed Easter figure, so the 7D total moves back up again as expected, to 2.7m. A slightly higher first dose figure too of 111k than we've seen for the last few days. 1/2

Am helping out for Science Week next week and have had some questions in advance. Am feeling OK about most of them, but... which infection has killed the most people? Bacteria - too broad? Smallpox - seems favourite? Any suggestions?
