@MrBoothY6 Omg - this! I’ve been a DH for around 6 years and over the last couple of years, I’ve heard it alot! I feel heard.

@DesmondMcCarey2 @Headteacherchat @_MissieBee @jon_severs @tes 40/110. You’re right - arithmetic knowledge will take the pressure off not being so adept at reasoning. I guess it depends on whether we want learners to be mathematical or children who can just can just pass a test. 40/110 does not equal 66%?
English

In Key Stage 2 SATs maths, 40 marks are arithmetic—enough for ~66% of ARE. Yet classroom time often leans toward reasoning. Should weekly maths rebalance to more fluency practice? Perhaps 3 days arithmetic, 2 reasoning. My thoughts.

Whoever the producer/ director is of this year's show, after seeing the inmemorium section about who the music industry has lost over this last year, well, they need sacking, deceased artists were totally dismissed, barring a few quick clips, not even photos were shown

@stokieadam @GMB @OntheBeachUK Formal teaching DOES happen in the final week of every term. That is fact.
English

@GMB @OntheBeachUK Just let children have 5 days off a year. Let them go and enjoy a holiday. Maybe the last week before summer break up when schools don’t do any formal teaching anyway. If schools go on foreign trips or holidays, give families the choice whether they want to go or go on their own

Happy #bookmarkMonday! This week is everything @pkainsworth whose simple reminder about effective school improvement is timely reassurance that we're on the right track. I particularly like this reference to the brilliant @dylanwiliam with a great quote from one of our favs, @MaryMyatt.
Paul has also written lots on recent Ofsted inspections if you, like us, are in that window 🪟 😟.
Thanks, Paul!

Lovely day at Hall for Cornwall with @tpacademytrust 400++ teachers talking teaching with @WALKTHRUs_5. Fab atmosphere all day.

@the_traitors_ Look at I’m a Celeb after over 20 years. IMO The Traitors is better and with different characters, different twists and amazing editing, it will always be incredible!
English

There’s a strange obsession with fans and journalists saying “oh this is the peak now, it’ll start to drop off like Big Brother.” Yes, all shows eventually drop in popularity/quality…but IMO The Traitors is waaaaay off that yet. This series (which so many fans moaned about in Week 1) proved that. The Traitors still has legs, especially since a lot of the newer fans only started watching with the celebrity version. Long may it continue! 🔥 #TheTraitors

#TraitorsUK is the BEST TV show…ever? I absolutely love it! I loved the winners - what a sensational play for them both! Wow!!!
English

@amymayforrester I was saying exactly the same thing earlier to an experienced teacher earlier. Our experience tells us exactly who children are. They need the correct diagnosis and support but everything takes so long!

How do you use the first 20 minutes of the day?
In our school, Early Work is purposeful: catch-up, retrieval, review, pre-teaching & checking in with children.
