"With regards to phones and social media, the evidence of causality for ADHD specifically remains limited. Attention development, from the early years into adult life, is so complex. We should be wary of pinpointing a single cause." Fascinating interview⬇️ tes.com/magazine/teach…

This on ADHD is so applicable across the Send reforms generally. There is a sweet spot and we too often miss it by over complicating are looking for too-easy scapegoats (like, as Gaia says, phones)

ADHD has been oversimplified, misreported and misunderstood, argues professor @GaiaScerif. “It’s a spectrum,” she argues, and the environment a person is in can often determine whether support is actually even needed. A must read interview this morning. tes.com/magazine/teach…

Measured about this. To my knowledge, no large-scale evidence, some ingredients will work some not. But it would be quite arrogant imo to dismiss those teachers who made it work.

The use of 'vertical, non-permanent surfaces' in maths teaching is increasingly popular in countries such as the US and Sweden. But does this Building Thinking Classrooms approach to group work really improve learning? tes.com/magazine/teach…

Max Ojomoh being left out of Borthwick’s latest England training squad feels a strange one. How do you go from man of the match v Argentina six months ago to not making a large England squad? England’s biggest issue in the Six Nations, apart from defence, wasn’t getting into the opposition 22, it was finishing once they got there. Four defeats, plenty of pressure, not enough points. So leaving out a player who creates tries, scores tries and passes the eye test feels odd. Clearly Steve Borthwick is measuring players against very specific metrics and standards behind the scenes, and whatever they are, Ojomoh hasn’t ticked enough boxes. But from the outside looking in, it’s hard to understand. Sometimes rugby people overcomplicate what’s in front of them. Ojomoh looks good enough. More than good enough, actually.
