Although we don’t yet have the details about the motives behind last night's shooting at the White House Correspondents Dinner, it’s incumbent upon all us to reject the idea that violence has any place in our democracy. It’s also a sobering reminder of the courage and sacrifice that U.S. Secret Service Agents show every day. I’m grateful to them – and thankful that the agent who was shot is going to be okay.

In 1980, two Gardaí were murdered after a bank robbery in Ballaghaderreen. Detective John Morley, a Mayo footballer stationed in Castlerea, and Garda Henry Byrne of Knock, Co Mayo. They were both shot dead during the pursuit, and this was in that gobshite’s constituency.

What are the top 5 best story lines that could come out of today? My thoughts: 1) Justin Rose comes back and wins, getting his long coveted green jacket. 2) Scottie shoots 64, goes 129 on the weekend and wins. 3) Cam Young, once much maligned, closes it out, and becomes known as Clutch Cam. 4) Rory wins back-to-back green jackets. 5) Patrick Reed storms back to win and Rory has to put the green jacket on Reed.
