I have received many comments about last week’s campaign update regarding third parties. For those who don’t subscribe to the weekly email newsletter, here’s the message.
“Some will recoil, arguing the purpose of political parties is to win elections and earn government control. They will contend that a third party vote is wasted or that it serves to spoil the outcome for one party or candidate. Support for either of the two major parties is in many cases predicated on contempt or dread of the other. As a result, many voters feel compelled to vote defensively. “The only wasted vote, however, is the one not cast. On the other hand, a vote cast for a third party is always measurable, and may even be for the greater good. It can introduce marginalized voices and ideas into the public square, and challenge the status quo by showing the political establishment the values and interests they have failed to represent. At this point in American politics, a consistent advocacy for human life and human dignity is precisely what is lacking, and it needs a voice.”
Always wanted to do a cowboy game, such a cool aesthetic. Maybe I should get inspired by @bencanfield 's #picocCAD scene? :)
You can wishlist picoCAD here: bit.ly/picoCAD
I added some subtle scrolling to the water, made the Lily pads more visible, and hid the water effect over the fish's body.
Not perfect, but I think its a good balance with the limitation of #tic80#gmtkjam
Added a startup sequence, and got the fish singing. Each fish sings the previous tone, augmented up its defined semitones. There's also a special "repeater" fish. The idea is to build up actual musical scales!

This year's GMTK Game Jam theme is...
Built to Scale
Can you make a game about size, scale, and dimensions? About tiny things? Or massive things? Or things changing size?
Can't wait to see what you come up with!
As promised here is a video of NES GLUG by Paul Proctor which I rescued recently from his development disks. This is the first time this has been seen by anyone apart from a few close friends and the Stampers at RARE. His disks were in a bad state and needed a deep clean.
@alectroemel actually, this gave me an idea. i could use the subtler version when player is moving, and when scanning, i switch the more visible version. this way it doesn't distract movement, but still gives the information i want to give during scanning
i added a shadow that follows the player (like in symphony of the night), so that when you're scanning midair, you still know which direction you will move after stopping the scan.
which version do you prefer?
