🌍 NEW BLOG: Reflections from Belem: Why Multilateralism Still Matters We're pleased to share this reflection from Alex Chitty from, exploring what it means to negotiate climate action when almost every country in the world has a seat at the table.

Ed Miliband painted a bleak picture of climate change impacts at this morning's cabinet. "Climate change is a threat to national security & growth, given [it] could force more than 200m people globally to migrate, the global economy could be 19% smaller in 2049 than it would be otherwise & it could put an additional 600,000 people in UK at risk of flooding." Very clear dividing line with Tories given Kemi Badenoch has suggested she wants to delay/ scrap UK's net zero targets.

The US cover of the Inflation Reduction Act the inspiration and cover for borrowing-fuelled green investment spend has now gone. Vanished. Cast as politically toxic. R politicians cited it as pushing up inflation which undermined the D campaign Labour politicians loved pointing US example. Makes Miliband’s argument a lot harder

📢 LCEF has now finalised our #Lab24 fringe programme, with events spanning topics from green finance to the just transition. We'll soon be posting more details of each event, so do stay tuned and sign up to our mailing list for more information: lcef.co.uk
