@Citadel just filed for foundation permitting last week on their new $2.5 billion HQ in Miami 🌴, clearing the way for an official groundbreaking. 🚧
The tower is now expected to include roughly 1.7 million square feet of usable office space, after Citadel removed the hotel component and expanded the office footprint by about 400,000 square feet.
And there's drama too.
Griffin has recently clashed with New York Mayor Zohran Mamdani over a proposed pied-à-terre tax and said the dispute directly influenced Citadel’s decision to expand in Miami.
At the same time, Citadel is still weighing the nature of its plans for 350 Park Avenue in New York, a tower some estimates have valued at more than $6 billion.
But Miami? Griffin says that’s “not up for debate.”
Miami has over 3 MILLION square feet of office in the pipeline when combining @Citadel, @bancosantander, and 848 Brickell.

🚨 BREAKING: Merely days after Griffin's spat with NYC Mayor Zohran Mamdani, Ken Griffin announces they are scrapping the planned hotel portion of their new Miami HQ and are replacing it with even more office space. The tower was previously planned to feature a luxury hotel across 17 floors (42 to 58). That space will now be replaced by office, substantially expanding the total amount of office space in the tower. Whether this was pre planned or a consequence of the Mamdani video is unclear, but the timing is extremely interesting!
