I had the privilege of attending a truly moving event in support of Alfie's Squad and my wonderful friend Chris Clark on Wednesday night. The room at 92 Degrees was packed with people who care deeply about the work this remarkable charity is doing, supporting children and families navigating the unimaginable loss of a parent through suicide. We heard powerful perspectives from supporters, partners, beneficiaries and members of the organisation itself. Each story reminded us why Alfie’s Squad matters so much. Through match day tickets, something once shared with fathers who are no longer here, creative crafts and therapies, counselling support, and trips to places far and wide, Alfie’s Squad is creating something incredibly special: a sense of belonging, understanding and family for young people who have experienced profound loss. It was inspiring to hear about the growing momentum behind the organisation, with upcoming gala balls, charity races and exciting partnerships developing with organisations including the LFC Foundation and Merseyside Police . It was also lovely to see representation from the Merseyside Lieutenancy, with the High Sheriff of Merseyside, Billy Hui , and Deputy Lieutenant Angela Samata DL CF in attendance. Most of all, the evening reminded everyone just how much good Alfie’s Squad is doing, and how needed this work is. Thank you for such a beautiful and heartfelt evening. Amazing work by everyone involved. And especially Alfie, what a wonderful young man you are. Rob Baynes MBE - Allison Furlong - Matt Parish - Joel Jelen - Clare Ellis - Michelle O'Dwyer - Ngunan Adamu and many more, good to see you all! 🥰 @AlfiesSquad @LFCFoundation @JoelUbiquity

#Blog: A decade of impact, a lifetime of opportunity... Colin Sinclair, who has led @KQLiverpool as chief executive since its inception, reflects on the organisation’s decade of success and its plans for the future. He writes in our latest Substack post: "KQ Liverpool is now one of the UK’s most successful innovation districts, with more than 400 businesses employing 15,000 people, and welcoming 60,000 students. "Major milestones include becoming a founding member of the UK Innovation Districts Group and joining the Global Institute of Innovation Districts. "We helped Liverpool to rank third in the 2026 European Capital of Innovation Awards. We’ve also won 15 industry awards in recognition of our placemaking and social value achievements. "To celebrate, we’re planning ‘ten for ten’ events and initiatives. Among those, I’ll be putting my running shoes back on (after last year’s 52-mile LCR in a Day run) and undertaking an endurance challenge raising money for @ClatterbridgeCC, @TheBrainCharity and @AlfiesSquad. "Other 10th anniversary activities include a time capsule capturing today’s technology and future aspirations, ready to be opened in 2040, a community festival recognising our unique location near residential communities, and an art competition for secondary school pupils. "Reaching this milestone is a proud moment for us but we know there is still much to do to create future generations of innovators here in the city region. "As I said, we’re on a mission." @manningh1962 @AlfiesSquad @antanddec Well time to strap in and put your wellies on. If this *triggers* you then you really have no hope left in this world. If you’re this sensitive because of your bereavement then you need physiological help. You will not go through life without seeing things that upset you.

@katiewaissel24 @JamesEsses Have you ever supported a child who has lost a parent to suicide? I have, and it’s shit. It’s in bad taste by people who children and young people look to. It may not be triggering for adults, but it could be very upsetting for children.

@katiewaissel24 @JamesEsses Have you ever supported a child who found their parent hanging? I have, and it’s a trauma that will stay with them for years. So, rather than dismissing the people who find it upsetting, James, have a bit of empathy, especially if you haven’t had to experience it.

If you’re going to lead with “as a psychotherapist,” why haven’t you acknowledged the people who were genuinely impacted and offered something supportive, instead of getting defensive and dismissing them as “cotton wool”? That’s not clinical, it’s contempt. Is that really how you respond to people and your clients in distress? People are allowed to raise concerns. There are multiple complaints for a reason. Watch the full footage, take in the context, and stop reducing this to a resilience lecture.

@AlfiesSquad How anyone could possibly think this was a good idea is beyond me. A lot of people must've been ok with it for it to get to be seen by the public, which is so worrying. Imagine the good @antanddec could do with a visit to see the work you do and the young people you work with.
