@criley2008 It can't be - entire MoJ group spends about 10.5 bill a year with about 80,000 staff (incl. Temps). No way a 2 man outfit - no matter how large a team they can put together - will have sufficient controls to manage that volume over 4 years, let alone efficiently and effectively.

Thought about this a lot last night. Even if this contract is just to oversee the implementation of £70bn, how do two people do it? How are they going to scale up in any meaningful way? Why can't this be done by the civil service?

@edlonguk @PippaMusgrave1 @JolyonMaugham I don't think anyone expects that 70 billion goes straight into their pockets, but in what world can a 2 person outfit coordinate a level of spend that most government departments couldn't?

@PippaMusgrave1 @JolyonMaugham Suggests they've actually won a contract to coordinate a multi billion procurement / contract framework and it's Reach doing their customary inept job of reporting it.

@SandyofSuffolk @yuanyi_z I love that it's always people roughly your age, who never fought in either of the world wars or were even around for the heyday of the empire, who come out with this absolute chutney.

@yuanyi_z We used to have backbones. We used to keep calm and carry on. That's before BBC and government started nannying everyone.

@Harsh55396758 @_kezx @cfc_rags You know someone can give an opinion on something that doesn't always have to come back to their nationality? And you don't always have to agree with something just because someone of your nationality thinks it?

@WeLikeSportz_ @_kezx Can you not just let us have 1 minor, completely inconsequential 'win' from this shambles of a series?

@_kezx The pom bowlers love too carry on after a wicket. Robinson bowling full, as he should, on a green top and acting like he is plucking wickets on a road 😂

Could England really lose the test in 3 days? If massive changes are not made then the ECB isn’t serious about test match cricket. But in the end stats don’t lie.. #ashes #embarrassing #cricket #mcg

The government tell us that the fuel crisis is easing… I went to 7 petrol stations this morning and there was no fuel at any of them. Was then hit by a van whilst stationary at a roundabout. Great start to the day!

@JBav81 @thedalstonyears As bad as Starmer has performed, too many people are inextricably wedded to Brexit for any opposition party to make much progress against this government. How do you deprogramme millions of people who voted for this shambles?

@thedalstonyears Hard to mount a credible opposition when every news outlet reports you're not mounting a credible opposition despite mostly mounting a credible opposition...

@TheEconomist The deal wasn't the humiliating part. It's the manner in which it was done, without warning and behind backs when the purpose of the deal was to contain China. Why piss off one of our closest allies for no reason? Johnson and co have no diplomacy skills or tact.

The secret pact was as brutal a blow as any Western ally has landed on another in recent times. Trust is the first casualty econ.st/3AKGduz

@TheEconomist I'm guessing you are not counting France bombing the Rainbow Warrior, when it was moored in NZ waters in 1985 as 'recent times'
