@nikillinit I licensed one of their scales. MDS has spent decades proving their scales are real measures of disease. MDS-UPDRS is the primary endpoint that FDA cares about for PD trials, so pharma has to license the scale. Generations of movement disorder docs are trained on these scales.

trying to get a better understanding of how much money different medical societies make from licensing out their scales for example, it seems like the Parkinson's/Movement Disorder society makes about $5M a year from scales that measure the progression of parkinson's

@dvasishtha @healthapiguy Some data types are defensible when built from the ground up (labs in our case, no one in their right mind would want to rebuild that) - makes the vendor’s package of commodotized data types more valuable. Other moat emerging is regulatory - more on that soon.
