You have doubled the state budget in less than a decade while population growth declined. Only very low IQ people buy what you are selling.

Today, I signed the operating budget for Washington state. My team and I worked in close partnership with legislators to craft a budget that allows us to continue meeting Washingtonians' core needs, while also living within the state's means, despite the harm done by the Trump Administration and MAGA Congress.  We secured important wins for affordability — including assistance on health care premiums to low-income individuals and funds to help low-income residents pay utility bills. I also recently signed the Millionaires' Tax to rebalance our upside-down tax code, which goes into effect in 2029.  We mitigated harms from the Trump Administration — including providing food benefits for the 30,000 immigrants with lawful status denied SNAP benefits, backfilling Medicaid funding to Planned Parenthood, and funding healthcare for very ill or disabled Washingtonians who were kicked off Medicaid.  Our state agencies took $1 billion in reductions.  I'm grateful for our state employees who are doing more with less.  Thank you to members of the public who engaged in the process, my budget team, sponsors Sen. I mainly use sim for data. Helps me gap the bag. Distance and movement doesn’t always correlate but the gaps are usually good. It’s a solid starting point especially with new equipment. I’m usually longer on the sim. But a couple rounds can get accurate yardages on the course. Similar for testing balls. Much easier to get spin and carry rates thru the bag on a sim. But I do see some performance variance on course. Agree it’s great for keeping the golf muscles in form.

Other than staying somewhat in golf shape, indoor golf is worthless. None of what I was doing on Trackman has translated to outside golf. I don't regret playing indoors all winter but disappointed the goodness doesn't translate. Before anyone asks, yes I'm using RCT golf balls

it hasn't sunk in for most people. we already live in a post-scarcity society. UBI is already here. basic package: disability, medicaid, food stamps etc bonus package: literally getting paid for staying at home and hanging out with your relatives extra bonus: if you are willing to commit fraud, pretend your kids are autistic and get paid for that. get paid for watching your neighbor's kid. pretend you are taking care of your grandma. fake hospice clinic. fake rehab clinic. fake therapy clinic. giga bonus: during a time of crisis take advantage of PPP or CARES and open a fake business and get paid for existing people are shocked when they learn that defense is the FIFTH largest line item in the budget. ahead of defense: social security ($1.6T), interest on debt ($1.1T) medicare ($1T), medicaid + ACA ($1T), AND THEN defense ($0.9T) complain about defense all you like, but healthcare fraud is a way bigger factor. hundreds of billions per year. this is only going to get worse, because the fraud is a structural part of the system – payouts to client groups in exchange for votes (normally D). in the US, only 47% of the population actually works (fully 14% of the population is working age and does not work). retirees are 18% and children 22%. the system I described above subsidizes 50m non-working people absolute minimum, but really it's far more because people that are paid to stay home and take care of their relatives are considered "workers" of that 47% of "actual workers" maybe one third does real work, the rest are shuffling papers around or doing fake email jobs. so you have, rough math, 50 million actual workers supporting 300 million dependents. that's the nature of the economy today. it will only accelerate. eventually you will have 10 million using AI tools to do all the work and 340 million dependents. the reason no one roots out the fraud is because it's the system that keeps our extremely fragile polity intact. the fraud is the UBI. the purpose of the system is what it does. of course, it's a deeply unfair system, because you are allowed to commit fraud if you are a politically protected client group of the democrats. DOGE was killed faster than any government program ever, because it attempted to root out the fraud. if you are honest and unwilling to commit fraud, you are a huge loser in this system. your neighbor will have their mortgage subsidized by some government program. they will get favorable SBA loans due to DEI. they will open a fake hospice or autism clinic. they will get paid for taking care of their neighbor's kid and vice versa. the primary skill in the labor market is learning how to extract money from state and federal government programs, not gaining skills or making yourself employable. if you are just trying to work an ordinary wagie job you are a huge sucker. you are paying 40-50% effective all in taxes to everyone else who is a net taker. the sad part is because AI is such a substantial productivity boost, it will actually keep this system going for a while longer, and maybe in perpetuity. AI boosts the 15% of the population that is actually productive so much that the remaining 85% can coast by. no one in charge will change this because they can't think of anything else. the political costs of a real UBI program are too great and we don't have the money for it anyway. so we will keep this covert fraud-based UBI program running indefinitely. unfortunately, if you are an honest wagie, you lose.

Millionaires and billionaires got a huge tax cut from the federal government at the expense of working families. Here in Washington state, we took a historic step forward to rebalance an unfair system.

They passed legislation in WA that prohibited chases. Car thefts increased significantly as well as other crimes. My auto insurance doubled during that time with no infractions or claims. They have changed the law back to allowing chases. Of course my insurance did not decrease. While it makes sense in some ways, people who are willing to do crimes take advantage of these types of policies.

Important news for voting in Washington state: I recently signed 5 election-related bills, including to respond to federal efforts to access voter data. We established a state-level voting rights preclearance process for jurisdictions that have previously violated voting rights laws. We amended who can challenge a voter’s registration. We clarified the statute that information like a voter’s driver’s license number, Social Security number, or full birth date is confidential, and made unauthorized disclosure of private voter information a class C felony.  We strengthened coordination between elections offices and federally recognized Tribes. And we strengthened the Washington Voting Rights Act by clarifying how voting rights violations are addressed and resolved.

You're not trying to pass this bill. You're trying to kill it in a way you can blame on process. Here's how we know: Reconciliation requires the Senate parliamentarian to rule that provisions are "budgetary." Citizenship verification is not budgetary. Photo ID mandates are not budgetary. The parliamentarian will gut the bill. Then you'll shrug and say "we tried." We see through you. Meanwhile, you WON'T use the tools that actually work: Rule XIX limits each senator to two speeches per legislative day. Keep the Senate in continuous session, file cloture daily, and the filibuster exhausts in ~12-20 days. You dismissed it as "complicated." Because if you tried and succeeded, you'd have to actually pass the bill. Harry Reid nuked the filibuster in 2013 when he wanted results. Mitch McConnell changed Senate rules THREE times and canceled the August recess. Chuck Schumer used reconciliation within months on a 50-50 Senate. You have 53 seats. You've changed nothing, canceled nothing, and waited eleven months. What if the government told your family ranch you owed $3.7 million… for a pond your cattle have been drinking from for decades? Washington state has so many contradictions. Former Governor Inslee mandated that all resident new car purchases would have to be EVs by ~2030. That got reversed. In its place, the CCA tax was passed in order to change the weather and the climate in Washington state. Because apparently, taxes can change the climate. 🤡🤡🤡 Now gas is once again over $5 a gallon with nearly $1.50 in taxes added to each gallon. Blaming the Iran conflict is lazy. Washington already had the most expensive gas in the country behind California and Hawaii. The goal was to make gas cars too expensive to drive. People would have to get an EV. The bureaucracy grows. Weather doesn’t change. Now, thanks to the CCA tax, Puget Sound Energy wants to increase our utility bills 30%. THIRTY PERCENT. So, the EVs that progressives have tried to force us to buy will be even more expensive to charge. 30% more expensive. Because of CCA. Washington’s record setting taxes since 2025 are doing nothing, ZERO, to make the state more affordable. And CCA does nothing to change the weather, or climate, or make life better in any regard. CO2 will continue to be only 0.04% of the atmosphere with no bearing on climate or weather. Collectivism sucks.
