I think supporting trans rights and recognising this prison policy is dangerous aren't mutually exclusive. Safeguarding vulnerable women shouldn't be controversial.

Because activists are circulating a template encouraging girls to design badges for Pride month. These are not official Girlguiding materials, but the work of the group Guiders Against Trans Exclusion (GATE), which opposes the new rules excluding boys - including those who 'identify' as girls - from Girlguiding.

A hotel migrant from Eritrea has been convicted of assault after attacking a Subway worker in Bournemouth — only to return hours later as a Just Eat driver and be identified by staff. Abdoela Berhan, an asylum seeker staying at the Britannia Hotel, became aggressive and refused to queue at around 4:50am on 30 November 2024. He spat at staff member Sahjan Chowdhury and kicked him when asked to leave. He later returned to collect a delivery order, allowing police to trace and arrest him at the taxpayer-funded hotel. Berhan claimed the “racist” staff assaulted him before switching to a self-defence story after seeing CCTV. He was found guilty in his absence at Poole Magistrates’ Court and a warrant has been issued for his arrest.
