The "DEI for men" framing is clever, but it's pointing at something older than social policy. Enforced monogamy functions as a suppression mechanism for male status competition. When most men can expect a partner regardless of relative rank, the intensity of that competition stays low and variance in male outcomes stays compressed. Remove the mechanism and variance expands, more men at the bottom, more at the top. That's not a policy failure. It's the reactivation of a biological default. Sapolsky covers how universal this pattern is across primate social structures. The enforced monogamy experiment was the anomaly. What's happening now is partly a reversion to the prior state.

Fake narrative. In reality, after the car sat untouched on the street, Zimbardo and his team moved it (or conducted the smashing) to/near the Stanford University campus. The initial destroyers were primarily Zimbardo himself, his graduate students, and other Stanford students—who “got carried away” (one jumped on the roof, others ripped doors, hammered the hood, etc.). It wasn’t organic vandalism by Palo Alto passersby in the affluent area.
