Big news out of @geckorobotics! The company has signed what @TechCrunch is reporting to be the largest robotics deal in US Navy history, a five-year IDIQ contract to inspect and monitor Navy ships, starting with 18 vessels in the Pacific Fleet. Gecko's robots will crawl through each vessel to build detailed digital twins, with software that recommends proactive maintenance to reduce downtime and costs. Why this matters: roughly 40% of the Navy's fleet is unavailable at any given time due to maintenance, at an estimated cost of $13-20 billion annually.
