my near-quit moments: 1. year 2 of startup: cto left, ran out of money, personal funds 2. raised $500K pre-seed, pivoted services (legal trouble), second cto left 3. other co founders left, app shut down, rebuilt the entire team .. pivoted to ai, then got acquired 🎢
Sherry Jiang@SherryYanJiang

most founders have a near-quit moment (or 3). mine: 1. month 3: miserable, lost, quarantined at home 2. first seed raise: 100+ vc pitches w/ a voice condition requiring surgery, just before crypto winter 3. bluejay pivot: cofounder left 4. peek.money pivot 2: all-in mobile bet, unsure if it’d work BUT...still here.

for a company that prides itself on design, i'm pretty disappointed with @figma make. i tried it alongside @ManusAI (2nd screenshot) and @variantui (3rd screenshot) - both were miles better. figma's output feels basic and obviously vibe-coded. also frustrating: a 5,000 character limit and no way to add file types beyond images and @figma designs as context. i want to like figma make, but i can't actually make anything i want with it.

YC removed Canada from their investment terms. @garrytan's take: data shows Canadian cos that flip to Delaware get 2x valuations, so just reincorporate. I agree our regulatory environment is broken: cap gains hikes, worse founder terms, anti-risk policy. But if everyone leaves, who fixes it? Backing Canadian founders AND pushing for change. Both matter 🇨🇦

The pattern is clear: Canadian-based YC companies that scaled to unicorn valuations reincorporated in the US. This is a common practice for Canadian startups seeking US venture capital, as US-incorporated entities are often preferred by institutional investors for legal, tax, and governance reasons.

i just took my longest break in four years, and it forced me to pause and ask a simple but uncomfortable question: why am I doing all of this? is it because I constantly feel like it’s not enough, so I have to do more? or because I genuinely want to do more, regardless of how much I’ve already achieved? there’s a very thin line between pushing forward out of joy and pushing forward out of fear that you’re still behind. and growing up without really celebrating your wins makes success feel like an obligation. that feeling of “this is enough” almost never arrives. it’s powerful fuel and it can make you achieve great things but it will burn you eventually and lead to a breakdown. yet we often praise people for going all in, for wanting things badly and that’s not wrong. but the reason behind the effort matters just as much as the effort itself. In this race of success, mrr, revenue ... everything can lose meaning if we forget to celebrate the small wins and the big ones. your friends. your community. you never really know what someone is carrying or how much it took for them to show up and keep going. Be kind 💌

People think crypto is about getting rich. For me it's about opting out. > out of 9-5 > out of geographic constraints > out of asking permission to move my own money Theres very few things in this world that will allow you to take back your agency.
