Chris (#Scandal still NO Justice PO GF WR)
I am just asking questions here because surely the public have a right to transparency. How is it that Nigel Farage can have allegations and questions around a £5 million undeclared gift, whether it was really for personal security, donor influence, helicopter trips, who paid for them, private jet travel, Maldives trip costs, Clacton spending questions, local costs being put as national spending, 17 rule breaches, late declarations, over £2 million in outside interests, huge GB News money, paid Cameo videos, more Cameos than speeches, videos linked to a convicted far-right rioter, neo-Nazi-linked events, far-right slogans, antisemitic conspiracy references, misogynistic comments, calling Welsh people foreign speakers, and when he gets questioned he dodges and avoids, yet somehow the follow up never seems to come? No reporter really pushes. No one seems desperate to get to the truth. No proper investigation seems to go anywhere, not from the Electoral Commission, not from the police, not from any parliamentary body. Now we have Ben Habib in a video making more allegations about Farage and bribes, and still the MSM would rather talk about @ZackPolanski living on a boat and not paying council tax. Yet we pay Kemi’s council tax through expenses and that seems fine. I am not saying anything, I am just asking for transparency, because funny enough that is what they all claim to want when it is someone else. @BBCNews @SkyNews @itvnews @Channel4News @GBNEWS @UKLabour Funny what gets called a scandal and what gets quietly ignored.

The real story shouldn't be Starmer it’s this. Ben Habib casually dropping an allegation that Nigel Farage and Boris Johnson were each handed £1m by Christopher Harborne to fix an election. Truly astonishing claims but sure, let’s all pretend the headline issue is Starmer. The £5m bung is the tip of the iceberg, our press should be camped outside Farage's girlfriends house not 10 Downing Street waiting for the police to arrive #ReformUK #Farage

Elizabeth Bangs -No accountability? No democracy.
Not going to drop this. The UK has some of the strictest bribery laws in the world. Accepting secret personal gifts for favours carries a prison penalty. An allegation that a politician has been bribed requires not just parliamentary investigation but a police one. #Faragebribe

As I’ve said, Keir Starmer needs to go. But not through a Cabinet stitch-up or palace coup. And not through a snap leadership election designed to hand Wes Streeting a coronation. We need a proper democratic contest involving the whole Labour movement so we get this right.

To be plain. If Starmer is forced out the pressure to hold a general election in disastrous circumstances will become intense. It’s always been Farage’s long game. Everyone must start thinking strategically. This is not student or union politics: it’s the future of Labour.
Will Hutton@williamnhutton

Starmer’s incapacities are obvious. However he has a mandate. As soon as he is replaced in however an ‘orderly fashion’ British media bias will become deadly. One rule on lack of mandates for the right: another for the left. The cabinet must plan skilfully; it could get worse.

@williamnhutton At the very least he will do what is right for the country in 2026. To use his majority to actually do something really positive. It could very well win Labour the next election out of the current jaws of defeat. He really needs to show everyone that he's tough and up for the job

@williamnhutton If Starmer and Labour wish to remain in Gov they need act. Start the process to rejoin the EU. change our elections to PR and ban referendums because we vote in a Gov to make the important decisions on our behalf. The right will scream. But what has he got to lose now? Be bold.

@BBCNewsnight Hinder needs to be sacked. Thrown out of the Labour party. I think he sounds more like a reform. What a disgraceful person. The majority of the country and indeed the economy which will support his young people in work is through rejoining the EU and giving us all free movement.

"The Prime Minister is going, no Prime Minister can survive this... It's time to be real, he's going. No doubt about it." Labour MP Jonathan Hinder describes Sir Keir Starmer's speech this morning speech as "tone deaf" and "at its worst, downright insulting". #Newsnight

@AFGuidesHD @implausibleblog What? If right wing Gov did fascist things, yes I would scream fascist. Rejoining the EU is not that. It's what is right for this country if we want to prosper.

Keir Starmer, "On Brexit, the reason I reminded everyone of what Nigel Farage said was because that was the promise he put to the country" "That we'd be stronger, we'd be richer, we'd have lots of money for the NHS, immigration will come down" "It all proved to be false" "Farage is not going back to the country now and saying it was a good thing, you've all benefited" "Farage will talk about almost anything else apart from the consequences of the one thing he delivered for the country, Brexit" "Farage doesn't want to talk about it, and there's a reason for that, it didn't help working people" "It turns out what he said wasn't true" "That's why Farage doesn't want to talk about Brexit" "But we have to talk about it now because we have to address the situation we are in" "We have to give this country a stronger economy, a stronger defence and security arrangement given the world we live in" "That's why I said what I said about being closer to Europe" "And this government being defined by bringing Europe back together and the UK at the heart of Europe"

@JackWDart What about all the Tory PMs ? No general election called. Nobody elected Truss and co. There is absolutely no need to call a GE if Starmer goes. In fact we get a new PM who wants to rejoin the EU without any red lines.

If Labour MPs detonate this government, the calls for an early general election will be immediate. Reform will claim that whoever succeeds Starmer will be illegitimate, because they didn’t win the election. The media will hound them, as relentlessly as they have Starmer, and the cycle continues. This all plays into Reform’s hands. It’s exactly what they want.

@Piotr742499 Well on the bright side Starmer may be replaced with a PM that has no foolish red lines about rejoining the EU. They could start the process to rejoin under a banner of 'under new management- our future at the heart of Europe'. Then I would be overjoyed that Starmer was gone.

@RKHodkinson @anainsin Future governments won't be able to overturn joining the EU if the divorce fee is set at a price that is unaffordable. In fact the EU would certainly want this in place before we rejoined to stop this. I would set the divorce fee at a trillion pounds. That would do it.

@anainsin Wondering the same, since general elections are every 5 years. BUT. I can't imagine the EU are going to be that willing when the next government will rip whatever agreement the current government makes up immediately after taking office.

@anainsin Because most of the pro brexit commentators on here are bot farm profiles. Russian run bot farms that wish to create a divide in the country by any means. They look for division and amplify Looking at the actual polls of real people. The majority now wish to be back in the EU.

@SamCoatesSky @cathynewman Labour will lose if they don't rejoin the EU before this term is over. I've voted Labour all my life and if they can't even do this one act on behalf of the nation with their once in a generation majority. Well it will be a Green vote from now on as I did on May 7th @lisanandy

EXC: Lisa Nandy tells @cathynewman there will be no return to single market or free movement with the EU (raising the question of how far Keir Starmer's EU reset announced this AM can actually go) “I don't think anyone in this country wants to reopen the Brexit debate. We had a referendum. That referendum was won by leave. "The majority of people voted for it…. there's no appetite, either from the government, from Europe, or from the public, I think, to start getting into renegotiating things like free movement, single market access. "We went around that track for years during the Brexit wars. This country doesn't need any more division."

@stellacreasy he needs to issue three new decisive actions in this parliament- rejoining the EU before the next election (locking us in for a generation by a huge divorce fee if leaving again), change the UK to PR voting and ban referendums for making Gov decisions(we elect Gov to make them)

The prime minister is right. We need to get back to the heart of Europe. That will never happen whilst the red lines remain on the single market, the customs union and freedom of movement. They need to go now and be seen to go now otherwise it’s a waste of time. labourmovementforeurope.uk/redlines?splas…
