I just spoke with the head of Dallas Co elections. After widespread confusion on primary election day this month, he told me they are now considering returning to countywide voting for the May runoff. Doing that would require the OK of both the county Dems and GOP. #txlege

"The agent who eventually picked up was little help, she said, asking her to spell Oman and advising her to 'monitor the news and shelter in place.'"

We called the State hotline. First thing you hear is an automated message: "Do not rely on the U.S. government for assisted departure or evacuation."

Called the State Department emergency number because the advisory said “depart via commercial means” and to call if you need assistance arranging departure.
Airspace is shut. Airports aren’t functioning. Airlines can’t be reached.
After 30 minutes on the line, they read back the same security update posted online.
I understand protocols. I understand thresholds for evacuation.
But telling Americans to “depart now” when there are no commercial options and offering no practical pathway is frustrating to say the least:

Dear @SecRubio: You told Americans to depart now via commercial means when you know many airports/airspace are closed. YOU MUST IMMEDIATELY SCHEDULE U.S. GOVERNMENT EVACUATION FLIGHTS FOR THE STRANDED AMERICANS IN DANGER. Maybe you should have thought of a frickin’ plan first.
