Today’s readings point to two virtues we need when faith gets hard: steadfastness and surrender. Steadfastness, because holiness is not built in one dramatic moment. It is built in daily fidelity when no one is watching. Surrender, because Peter reminds us that following Jesus will cost us something. But nothing placed in Christ’s hands is ever lost. St. Philip Neri shows us this beautifully. Real holiness is not grim. It is joyful, steady, and free.💕 So if the road feels long, do not turn back. 👉 Stay steadfast. 👉 Surrender what you are clinging to. 👉 Trust Jesus. 👈 He never asks for everything in order to leave you empty. He asks for everything because He intends to give you more than you can yet see. St. Philip Neri please pray for us.

My 2 year old is a sweet little chunk. Every Sunday, try as we may to explain the concept of communion, he bursts into tears at the altar, certain he is being intentionally targeted for exclusion by the Priest. Husband, in urgent whisper: “Max, it’s NOT a snack” (for the zillionth time) Max, in tears: “…but Daddy, I want to eat” The drama continues.
