This afternoon, our team, along with Dr. Mok, a visiting consultant from the U.S., met with Dr. Kandeh Kolleh Yumkella, Chairman of the Presidential Initiative on Climate Change, Renewable Energy, and Food Security, at his office on Siaka Stevens Street. We discussed climate change governance, climate justice, and the climate action plan. Dr. Mok is a visiting consultant at CHRDI and brings over a decade of experience in government climate change policy and community organising for environmental justice. We plan to engage with local government leaders, central government leaders, and civil society leaders to further our initiatives.

Earlier today, Mr. @amfatoms (CEO, @chrdiorg) spoke candidly about the challenge of impunity in #Africa’s fiscal landscape. He noted that failure to take responsibility has left many countries vulnerable to external interference and economic instability. He emphasized the urgent need for sound fiscal policies backed by enforceable laws, especially during times of crisis. Drawing from #SierraLeone’s current experience, he highlighted that the country is already 4.8% over its national budget, a pattern common across the continent where many governments spend beyond their #tax revenues. His message: accountability, legal safeguards, and responsible budgeting are essential to restoring fiscal stability and protecting national sovereignty. 📍ECOSOCC Citizens' Forum | Malabo #EquatorialGuinea 🇬🇶 #ECF2025 #CitizensForum2025 #NewSocialContract #YearOfReparations
