@internxy @UCSFIMChiefs @MGBUnited Members elect delegates annually who are empowered with specific responsibilities eg attending annual CIR convention and voting on national issues there. Organizing committee is open to all members who want to be involved in the work of the union. Structure can vary by hosp tho.

I was a regional VP in CIR-SEIU while also a @UCSFIMChiefs chief resident. Union can win things that program leadership also want but lack power to achieve. Greater power for shared goals - improved resident working conditions and learning experience. Vote YES @MGBUnited!

@LlinasLab Our hospital blood banks have always been happy to save expired units for us. Parasites are happy in “expired” blood for some time and the price is definitely right. Maybe an option? For fresh we draw our own (w irb approval/consent)- I have had many undergrads draw mine

@manningtyree08 @DrZackaryBerger I think instead accepting that causality we should look deeper. I think the remarkable association of APOL1 and hypertensive nephrosclerosis is an example of what might be discovered if we open our minds and reject HTN causes CKD.

CKD without proteinuria is the HFpEF of nephrology. Common problem, no good tools to treat it.

@AndreaLMerrill @uche_blackstock @Delta A few years ago I worked with the @afa_cwa and a coalition of other groups as well as a few members of congress to advocate to FAA for adding naloxone to required EMK. Ultimately unsuccessful but might be worth seeing if AFA wants to help work on this again.

Dear @Delta, I just assisted in a medical emergency in the air. Your medical kits need a glucometer, epi pen, and automatic blood pressure cuffs- it’s impossible to hear with a disposable stethoscope in the air. Please improve this for passenger safety!

@andy_hyatt_ Definitely wouldn't say I have much expertise! Have been peripherally following long covid but haven't done a deep dive in the literature. Here's the MMWR: cdc.gov/mmwr/volumes/7… interesting no changes in neurocog testing in that ACP study.

Seeing absolutely extraordinary claims like this about COVID on my timeline daily, often with 10s of thousands of retweets. How did the claim that COVID is a “vascular disease” that can cause “serious neurological complications” after mild illness become widely accepted for some?

@andy_hyatt_ I think increased mortality due to MIs and other vascular causes as well as lasting neurocognitive effects have been proven though?
