UDL is best understood as a philosophical framework for inclusion rather than a validated scientific model of brain function. The brain does not neatly divide learning into these isolated three-bucket networks as UDL claims. UDL is marketed very well and I know many teachers are required to be UDL trained. The framework itself has no research backing. only its elements.

🚨The moment a Palestinian man seized an assault rifle from an armed Israeli settler who was threatening him during a settler attack on the village of Tell, southwest of Nablus. The Times of Israel, citing an Israeli military statement, said dozens of Israelis had entered Areas A and B of the occupied West Bank on what the IDF called a “hike,” despite those areas being off-limits to Israelis. The group included armed settlers. A Palestinian man snatched a rifle from one of the armed Israelis who charged at him in a threatening manner with his gun raised and aimed directly at the Palestinian. The Palestinian man then shot dead a 32-year old settler who served in a settlement security unit. Israeli forces then shot and killed the Palestinian. Three other Palestinians were shot dead immediately afterward in what Palestinian officials described as a field execution, and eight others were wounded in the Israeli settler and security forces attack. More details in the post below ⬇️

💢 A breakdown of how the incident in Tel, Nablus unfolded: The Palestinian man, Farouk Ramadan, initially appears to be trying to protect another Palestinian (likely his brother) when an armed settler hits him in the head with a rifle. (Image 2) As he moves away, he is kicked or struck from behind. Still, he retreats again. (3) Israeli settlers or the surrounding soldiers (under whose protection the incursion appears to be taking place), then fire live shots. The sounds of gunshots can be heard clearly in the video. (3) An armed Israeli settler then charges directly at Ramadan and a fellow Palestinian with a gun raised and pointed at their chest, closing distance between them, as gunshots are heard in the background. Ramadan disarms him, takes the rifle, and aims at the settler, and purportedly shoots him dead. (1) On the sequence visible in the footage, it is clear he is acting in self-defense against an imminent armed threat than the “terrorist attack” senior Israeli officials are calling it and using to justify pogroms in Palestinian villages. Five Palestinians were ultimately killed in the broader settler and Israeli military forces attack in this incident. Dozens more have been wounded and property damaged since.

We tend to divide educational frameworks into rigid silos, treating Engelmann’s Direct Instruction (DI) as behavioral engineering and Marton’s Variation Theory (VT) as phenomenological inquiry. Look closer at how human minds actually acquire complex concepts, and those boundaries begin to dissolve. When we strip away historical traditions, both theories describe the exact same psychological architecture: What DI calls Minimal Difference is precisely what VT identifies as Contrast. What DI builds through Maximally Different Examples, VT frames as Generalization. What DI engineers as Faultless Communication maps directly onto VT’s Enacted Object of Learning. The main differences aren't in their core mechanics, but in their scope: one provides the macro-engineering blueprint for task design, while the other delivers the micro-diagnostic lens for live classroom reflection. Perhaps bridging the two gives us a far more powerful model for instructional design, and perhaps closer to the "Science of Teaching"! Read it all here: ammaramerhbi.substack.com/p/two-sides-of…

So Israeli settlers attack a Palestinian village, throw gasoline through a window onto a baby, nearly burning the young child alive, and beat a pregnant woman with stones. Zero Western media coverage. The complicity runs so deep...
