@AnnaGHughes Ooh! This happened to me recently. I was most surprised to learn that The Shining has a sequel with Ewan McGregor playing a grown-up Danny Torrance. I had no idea until @plex pointed out that I only had one of two movies in The Shining Collection.

@amostwit Yes—I’ve joined, and I can see the potential for building a new community there. It’s giving me some comfort to know that I have that connection to a bunch of friends already. It’s just that there’s always something lost in the transition.

So, today I read a report on how my career and in-person community were destroyed by deliberate selfishness, incompetence, & cruelty, and then tonight I am perhaps losing my most important online community, and most active social life, to selfishness & incompetence. #WhatADay

@AvenSarah There seems to be a bit of an exodus happening and the distributed nature of Mastodon is quite cool. You can join any server but some are created to be online spaces for certain topics, interests, values, or just geographic locations.
