Honestly, these ppl have no shame. @GregAbbott_TX at a press conference about cutting property taxes SITTING WITH GENEVIEVE COLLINS whose family has made hundred of millions off of your property taxes over the last 10 +yrs w/BS math & reading technology forced upon our kids called ISTATION. (My son hated it & was forced to log hours on it in elementary school.) Then Genevieve had the nerve to lobby for a $1 Billion voucher PAID FOR WITH YOUR PROPERTY TAXES citing poor math & reading scores as a need for privatization! It’s one big grift. The problem below in one pic. The reason our property taxes go up is because we are all paying the “Greg Abbott Corruption Tax.”

Here in Manor where Gov. @GregAbbott_TX is laying out his five point property tax plan, which includes asking voters to abolish homeowner school property taxes. #txlege Reps @StanGerdesforTX and @CarolineForTX and Genevieve Collins of AFP are here too:

Representative Mihaela E. Pleșa
Representative Mihaela E. Pleșa@plesafortexas·
In late 2025, Texas invested approximately $5 million in Bitcoin as part of a state-level reserve strategy. The purchase was made near a market high, when Bitcoin was trading at roughly $87,000 per coin. As of today, Bitcoin is trading around $65,000 per coin. Based on that price movement, Texas’ investment is currently valued at about $3.8 million, meaning it is down roughly $1.2 million, or about 24%, compared to the original purchase amount. What this means for Texans • The investment is currently underwater, meaning its market value is below what Texas paid. • Future value depends entirely on Bitcoin’s market performance, which is historically volatile and unpredictable. Why this matters This investment exposes public funds to a highly volatile asset class. While prices can rise quickly, they can also fall just as fast. Tracking the value over time is important for transparency, fiscal oversight, and understanding risk to taxpayers. What $1.2 Million Could Fund Instead: •Salaries and benefits for 15–18 starting teachers for a full year •10–12 entry-level firefighters or paramedics for one year •Mobile health clinics serving rural or underserved communities •Transit service operations that keep workers connected to jobs •Direct property tax relief for hundreds of homeowners. Public dollars are finite. When funds are exposed to high-volatility assets, short-term losses represent foregone opportunities to invest in services Texans rely on every day. Even unrealized losses carry real tradeoffs. Bottom line A $1.2 million swing in value is not abstract. It is roughly the cost of teachers, emergency services, infrastructure repairs, or direct relief that could otherwise be delivering measurable public benefit right now. I will continue providing regular updates so Texans can clearly see whether this investment is up or down and by how much.

@xHaustedOfStats @RKMSIO @Taniel Which meant maps had to be passed again during the 88th Regular Leg. Session (a technicality). They were unchanged from ‘21, in ‘22 ALL 31 state senators were on the ballot, inc. Kelly Hancock, the fmr R senator/current Comptroller. That was the first election w/ SD as it is now.

@xHaustedOfStats @RKMSIO @Taniel The Legislature passed the maps in a special session in 2021. Because the TX Constitution requires that a maps be drawn in the 1st REGULAR legislative session following the decennial census, the maps that had been passed in 2021 had to be voted on again in 2023 — 1/2

Will Dems flip a seat in Texas? The early vote just came in Tarrant County, and Democrat Taylor Rehmet is up 56% to 44% in the special election for a GOP-held state Senate seat. Seat went for Trump by 17%. This would be a big upset.

@realmatteouse @Carlos__Turcios 🤦🏻‍♀️. SD 9 is about a 5 hour drive from downtown Houston. We have some incredibly (and horribly) gerrymandered districts in Texas, but that’d be a bit too extreme even for our state leadership. You’re thinking about CD 18.
