Working and being around Piyush Pandey always felt effortless and fun. Was an honour being part of the pure magic he created. He carried his genius so lightly and revolutionised the ad industry in India. Rest in Peace my friend. Will miss you lots.

In our latest Substack post (link in comment), we explore how the world is slowly warming up to the idea of proactive insights. A Proactive Insight Engine drives continuous improvement across business processes and workflows - helping organizations compound their gains over time. While most companies still operate in a reactive mode (using dashboards and reports to explain what already happened), it’s clear that the future of data-driven decision-making is proactive. That’s where the next wave of competitive advantage truly lies.

It was a happy moment launching the IndiCASA dataset and indeed an honour, getting it launched by our Hon. Director Prof. #KamakotiVeezhinathan in the presence of my beloved Guru, Prof. @ravi_iitm 😊🙏 A big shoutout to my teammates #SanthoshGS & #AkshayGovindS and a ton of gratitude to Prof. @Sriraam_UTD for making this work possible 🙏🙂 Please do go through our paper!
Wadhwani School of Data Science & AI (WSAI), IITM@WSAI_IITM

We launched the IndiCASA (IndiBias-based Contextually Aligned Stereotypes and Anti-stereotypes) dataset at our recent Conclave on AI Governance, organised by WSAI & CeRAI. The IndiCASA dataset addresses the gap in detecting nuanced, Indian-specific societal biases in Large Language Models (LLMs). Authored by Santhosh G S (Postbacc Fellow, CeRAI), Akshay Govind (undergrad student, IIT Madras), Dr. Gokul S Krishnan (Senior Research Scientist, CeRAI), Prof. Balaraman Ravindran (Professor & Head, CeRAI, WSAI), Prof. Sriraam Natarajan (Professor, The University of Texas, Dallas, and Associate Faculty Fellow, WSAI), this dataset offers around 2.5K human-validated sentences covering caste, gender, religion, disability, and socioeconomic status for fairness risk assessment. abrahamic faiths are apps (self contained, with one set of instructions & permissions), whereas hinduism feels more like an os with a kernel + a bunch of shells, endlessly extensible, backwards compatible with ancient scripts, etc.

If you’re a young founder and want to talk, the best way is to email me at harnidh95@gmail.com. I usually reply within a week. I don’t have capital to deploy right now, but I can help you figure out how to raise and raise well. Over the last few years, I’ve reviewed thousands of decks and data rooms, and worked closely with dozens of early-stage founders. That means I can: - Tear down your pitch deck or memo so you know what actually makes an investor lean in. - Pressure test your fundraising story: why this, why now, why you. - Help you sharpen your market thesis so it goes beyond “big TAM” slides into something investors respect. - Connect you to the right resources and playbooks on structuring rounds, prepping for diligence, and navigating cap tables. - Be a sparring partner when you’re feeling stuck, unsure, or just need someone who’s seen a lot of early-stage chaos before. If you’re a first time founder, especially, I know the grind of trying to get taken seriously. I won’t sugarcoat things, but I’ll make sure you walk away clearer, sharper, and more prepared. Write to me. I can’t promise capital, but I can promise context, candour, and concrete help.

AI is changing how business leaders leverage data analytics (reactive -> proactive insights). And that calls for revival of our CEO's podcast - Data Chatter (search for it in your fav podcast app and subscribe). The first episode of season 2 will drop the coming week. By the way, today happens to be the International Podcast Day, so great timing for us to be making this announcement. While season 1 of Data Chatter had been about how data scientists, academics, and technologists build models and code, in the new season, we are dong things differently. This time, @karthiks will be speaking with the data users instead of the the data practitioners. And that means, in the episodes to come, you will get to hear from CEOs, founders, and business leaders on how they are making data-driven decisions today, the challenges they face and how they think AI is going to change it all (or not). Alright, so do subscribe to 'Data Chatter' on your favourite podcast handle. You can also subscribe to babbageinsight.substack.com to get notified every time a new episode drops! Together, let's gear up for a world of Proactive Insights!

Here's the swipe-able carousel: linkedin.com/posts/babbagei… A recent study revealed that 71% organizations (that were surveyed), were 'piloting' AI, but only a meager 5% had successfully scaled AI. This needs to change. In our latest whitepaper, we make the case that auditability is the missing link between AI adoption at scale and the pilots. Do check out the full paper at: lnkd.in/dnxUYB5j At Babbage - your Proactive Insight Engine - auditability will always be a core aspect of the product. Because as a business leader, you don't just need insights proactively, you also need to be able to trust it and defend it! @karthiks

Everybody is tired of AI hallucination. At Babbage Insight, we got so tired of it so early, that we decided to pioneer the tagline "we are not a copilot!" Spoiler alert: it turned out not to be a good idea. Business leaders do want to ask questions after all. But 𝐰𝐡𝐚𝐭 are the sorts of questions they want to ask? Show me the evidence. Dig deeper. And that's why at Babbage, we have pioneered the Auditable AI Insight, where anything we show you is evidence-based, queryable and instantly proved. Read it here! babbageinsight.com/white-paper/Pi…

As someone who has just written a non fiction book, I should not say this, but here is my unpopular opinion on non fiction books Most non fiction books should have been a 10 page blogpost at max. The single idea is stretched to 250 pages with stories and examples and what not to make it a book

@karthiks I think someone just put together few different brands in a category and then just arranged them based on avg price (for a comparable product). The headline here is just this - most categories have multiple price options for any product.

At Babbage, we have been asking ourselves this: how would AI change the way we approach setting up and measuring KPIs? KPIs, OKRs, KRAs etc. are useful for alignment. But at the end of the day, these are all mere proxies for actual goals. They are susceptible to gaming. Also, they remain fairly static, even when business conditions are dynamic. In fact, 60% of managers already believe their KPIs need improvement. So could AI do something here? The problem is, AI will always struggle to define relevant KPIs unless it can first learn the intrinsic business philosophy of any organization. The semantic layers that exist today however, do not encode the deeper strategic narrative or explain why a metric matters or how its relevance shifts with context. But a Proactive Insight Engine like Babbage changes that. In our latest blog - babbageinsight.substack.com/p/should-your-… - we talk about the emergence of KPAI (KPIs enabled by AI) where firms get to use AI to define smarter, more aligned proxies and see "measurable improvements" as a result. The human role could soon evolve from policing stale dashboards to focusing on clarifying core business objectives and ensuring that these AI-driven, adaptive KPIs truly guide the organisation towards its strategic 'true north'. What’s your take on this?
