Keep in mind. The bombshell Texas Mifepristone case is first and foremost about the rights of women, not the state, to control their lives, but it’s also about the authority of FDA (and by implication government) to carry out is statutory mandate.

Breaking: Judge Kacsmaryk has stayed the FDA approval of mifepristone, the abortion pill that has been approved for over two decades. This is slated to take effect in seven days.

If the judge issues a preliminary injunction and blocks Mifepristone, safe and effective early abortion options (aspiration abortions or misoprostol only) are available, but this ruling could limit an abortion option w/a strong safety record and lead to delays in abortion access.

Briefs are due tomorrow and this case could result in a preliminary injunction that could block access to mifepristone across the country. To be clear, mifepristone has a safety record that is over 20 years long and has been reviewed multiple times by the FDA over the years.

All eyes are on a lawsuit filed by anti-abortion organizations & physicians alleging the FDA didn't conduct the proper trials & statistical analysis required to approve mifepristone. They are asking the Court to revoke the FDA's approval of the drug. kff.org/report-section…
