10y outcomes on S3 #TAVR vs SAVR in intermediate risk pts in P2A S3i is out #NYValves2025! @tnazifMD presented similar site reported ☠️ (~80% dead in 10y with mean age 80) and low reintervention (3 and 3.2%) between two groups among survivors. It gives us a good picture of the survival curves among these pts.

After 24 years i have achieved a sort of landmark- i have published my 1000th peer reviewed publication ➡️ pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/?term=mamas+m&… My first paper was around spinal cord injury, and for the 1000th paper It is fitting that it was: Percutaneous Coronary Intervention in the UK: Recommendations of the British Cardiovascular Intervention Society ➡️ icrjournal.com/articles/percu… I would like to that all the fellows, researchers and collaborators that have enriched my professional life over the past 24 years- without you this would not be possible. I have always tried to be as collaborative as possible. I believe in team science. Over 20 fellows (clinical and non clinical) have been awarded a PhD working with me from all over the globe. I have been incredibly fortunate to work with some brilliant people and for these people to allow me to shape their careers. This is what i learnt of my journey- a 🧵

For those wondering why I've been off Twitter for nearly 3 weeks. My 82 yo father was admitted with influenza pneumonitis , a type 2 AMI and sustained 2x PEA arrests in A&E and the cath lab on Dec 18th. I wanted to publicly express my thanks to all the staff involved in his care at @WythenshaweHosp , cardiothoracic ICU, medical ICU and ward F4 where he was treated for sepsis, shock and more recently delirium (he thought i had escaped from prison to see him ! 😳) I collected him today and I'm so grateful that he is alive. I didn't think that would be the case when driving urgently to Cath Lab three weeks ago to wythenshawe. I want to thank Dr Saqib Chowdhury, consultant Cardiologist and friend for his initial treatment . If it wasn't for him my father would not be here today. Whatever we think about the NHS and it's failings, in situation such as these it always pulls through. There are very few healthcare systems outside of the UK where an 82-year-old would have been treated so aggressively and survived to discharge.
