@TheTNHoller @GovBillLee This actually happened in Nashville. During a tight budget year, the district shut down 3 neighborhood schools. Were it not for charter school growth, they would have remained open. Charter school advocates in Nashville consistently advocated for closing traditional schools.

Public school advocate @AmyFrogge says school closures in Colorado are the result of privatization efforts (charters, vouchers) like the one @GovBillLee is spearheading here in Tennessee, “ignoring community and parent voices” 🎯

This is how it works. Charter school interests ignore community input and parent voices. Neighborhood schools must be closed to open the door to privatization (ie, charter schools).

Denver parents ask WHY is DPS planning to close schools. Enrollment is UP! Community VOICE must be heard! The money is there for neighborhood schools.@PublicEd412 @NPEaction @LisaforDenver @RussellHaythorn @qpyoungnews @palan57 @AllenCowgill @AmyFrogge denver7.com/news/front-ran…

Tennessee, this is important…..so much for the helping poor kids in “low performing” schools argument…..

📰 NEW: “The poorer the ZIP code, the less often vouchers are being used. The richer, the more.” @propublica ❌ Vouchers were sold as a way to help low-income students, but that’s always been a false narrative. propublica.org/article/arizon…

Another charter school scandal: Married NJ charter school leaders making $600k per year actually live in Florida. Pure grift. Nothing prevents this from happening in Tennessee- and in fact, we’ve had similar stories here. apple.news/AAd62Kwl3SZGgb…

One caller asked for help finding her brother. Another needed info about evacuation routes. A third worried if a nearby dam was about to burst. And many callers said "I'm just so proud of my neighbors." Local radio in western North Carolina is a literal lifeline right now 🧵
