🚨🚨It’s a declaration of war against the planet and a major trap that Trump stepped into. We’re supposed to listen to Mark Levine who admits he has zero military understanding!God help us all..🚨🚨

President Trump claims that the US is enforcing a blockade of any vessel that sails out of an Iranian port. Any such ship is subject to boarding, seizure, or outright attack. So...what happens if it's a Chinese ship? Watch @RonPaul & @DanielLMcAdams below:

blockade with ceasefire is a climbdown from last week. second round of talks in islamabad shows president trump looking for an off-ramp. iranians happy to continue to engage in negotiations as long as ceasefire continues. more likely to give on nuclear enrichment than influence over the strait…which appears to align with trump’s priorities.

@ClimateAudit @ClarkeMicah And you can’t deter them either. BTW that doesn’t make the IRGC the good guys, just two different types of terrorists loving jihadists fighting each other for world domination. They would continue to act like evil thugs even if the US and Israel were to disappear.

@an99658 @ClarkeMicah ISIS and AlQaeda were supported by Gulf States and Israel, while Iran fought hard against them. US even protected the AlQaeda enclave in Idlib.

Is anyone else struck by the way in which Israel's nuclear weapons, which we all know to exist, are implictly deemed not to be capable of deterring Iran, should Iran obtain nuclear weapons of its own? So, er.......

An urgent phone call from Saudi Crown Prince MBS changed Trump’s decision at the last minute: President Trump had intended to declare a complete ceasefire and end the fighting against Iran in exchange for the immediate opening of the Strait of Hormuz. However, a tense phone call with Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman dramatically changed the plan. According to White House sources, bin Salman begged Trump not to stop the war: “This is a historic opportunity – we must finish the job and weaken the Iranian regime once and for all.” In exchange for continuing the fighting, Saudi Arabia offered an unprecedented package of economic and strategic incentives. Key points in the offer: • $100 billion transferred directly to finance American war costs • Full and immediate normalization with Israel after the fall of the regime • Direct oil pipeline from Saudi Arabia to the port of Ashdod, turning Israel into a major energy hub • Investment of approximately $1 trillion in the U.S. economy + purchase of $500 billion in American weapons • Establishment of a new regional defense alliance, including Israel, Saudi Arabia, and other moderate countries under an American umbrella • Joint naval force to control the Strait of Hormuz and Bab el-Mandeb • Funding of strategic U.S. bases in Israel • Joint reconstruction fund for a post-regime “secular and moderate” Iran In the end, Trump announced a temporary ceasefire, not an end to the war as was expected. Senior diplomatic sources describe the move as “a historic turning point” marking the beginning of a new regional order. - @jess_ih_ka

Upcoming negotiations will fail if we don’t restrain the Israelis & stop giving them access to our decision making. The Israelis push for zero uranium enrichment because they know it’s a poison pill for Iran & will result in the war continuing. Iran has committed to not developing or obtaining a nuclear weapon since 2003. A deal can be reached about uranium enrichment lvls & monitoring - ending the war & opening the SOH. This can only happen if we treat the Israelis like the junior partner & put our interests 1st.
Barak Ravid@BarakRavid

Netanyahu at a cabinet meeting: "I spoke yesterday with Vice President J.D. Vance. He called me from his plane on his way back from Islamabad. He reported to me in detail, as this administration does every day, about the development of the negotiations. In this case, the explosion in the negotiations. The explosion came from the American side, which could not tolerate Iran's blatant violation of the agreement to enter the negotiations. The agreement was that they would cease fire, and the Iranians would immediately open the gates. They did not do that. The Americans could not accept that. He also made it clear to me that the main issue on the agenda for President Trump and the United States is the removal of all enriched material, and ensuring that there is no more enrichment in the coming years, and that could be in decades, no enrichment within Iran. That is their focus, and of course it is also important to us."

@mehdirhasan Anybody with an ounce of brain know that it is essential to maintain a Judeo-Christian majority in America if you want the secular liberal democracy to survive.

A reminder that this guy lives in America where he could never get away with saying that we need to "preserve a Christian majority" or we need to preserve a "white majority" in the US. Ethno-nationalism is bad if you believe in secular liberal democracy. Let's stop pretending.
Jonah Platt@JonahPlatt

“He opposes any two-state solution that seeks to preserve a Jewish majority in Israel.” We must stop acting like this is some neutral or reasonable position. Advocating for the removal of Jewish self-governance is advocating for, at best, the subjugation of Jews as a minority in yet another Arab state, and at worst, our total destruction.

@ianbremmer Lol this is as far as you can be from an all out regime change war, we didn’t even get to boots on the ground yet. People should realize that it can easily get a lot more horrible for Iran, and even the IRGC, at this point.

iran’s nuclear & ballistic missile programs were a real threat. more to israel and the gulf states than than to the united states, but real nonetheless. responding to that threat with an all out regime change war is one of the most irresponsible foreign policy decisions the united states has made in my lifetime. we will suffer the consequences of this mistake for years for years to come.

Trump wants a cut of Strait of Hormuz toll revenues. 💀 Bro… Iran controls those waters. They have the navy, the geography, and the leverage. What exactly is Trump offering in return? Why would they hand over revenue to someone with zero leverage there? The logic just isn't there. 🧵

This morning, I asked President Trump if he’s okay with the Iranians charging a toll for all ships that go through the Strait of Hormuz, he told me there may be a Joint US-Iran venture to charge tolls: “We’re thinking of doing it as a joint venture. It’s a way of securing it — also securing it from lots of other people.” “It’s a beautiful thing”
