Mumbai’s current airport once had a railway line passing through where it exists today ! There existed a direct railway line from Kurla to Andheri which started from Trombay and went to Andheri via Kurla and via the land which is today part of Mumbai’s Chhatrapati Shivaji maharaj international Airport. It was known as the Salsette-Trombay railway. It passed through/had stations at Wadavali, Mahul road,Kurla, Agre road (presently LBS marg) then went via CST road towards Santacruz with halts at Kolovery and Kole-Kalyan and then finally towards Andheri with halts at Sahar and Chakala. That railway line started in 1928 and ended in 1934 to build the airport. Though a railway line from Mahul’s oil refineries to Kurla still exists today which may or may not be a part of that original Salsette-Trombay railway line.

No infrastructure project in Mumbai has changed my daily life like the Mumbai Metro Aqua Line. I barely take the car out. My Uber/Taxi usage has become 60-70% lesser. And I reach my most frequently visited places - always on time & without any stress.

Local train having dedicated tracks, BEST bus transportation, ensure last mile connectivity Meanwhile our HYD has such a potential for local trains, but just getting wasted due to no proper land, improper timings, lack of last mile connectivity, causing huge rush in buses, metro train and ignoring MMTS 😏😏 Hopefully one day in future we have roubust local train network 🙏

I find it amazing that more than 10 years after Metro construction started in Mumbai, the line connecting Bandra West and BKC is non existent. 10 years, all the pillars on both sides seem complete but they're still not joined. Traffic gets totally jammed. But hey use Coastal, stop cribbing right?
