Gas prices could hit $2 a litre and ‘turbocharge’ food prices heading into summer: analyst cp24.com/local/toronto/…

@teletonic @danielfoch Unfortunately, being in debt isn’t an issue when you have the most powerful army in the world which the US realized long before anyone else. The US doesn’t have to answer to anyone and it won’t. The other countries are too pussy and all they care about is money too.

@anas2ab @danielfoch we're nearing the end of this version of the experiment.
lets see what arises from its ashes. likely something mostly the same for the reasons you laid out.

Remember in 2022 when I told you all this bailout would happen and you ridiculed me?
I do. Receipts kept:
“A private Canadian investment firm has teamed up with a provincial Crown agency to purchase and convert some of the growing inventory of unsold condominiumsin the Greater Toronto Area (GTA)”

@teletonic @danielfoch At the end of the day, the taxpayer always loses. It’s how capital markets work and will continue to work. We’ve been fed this system and are told it’s the greatest thing since ever.
English

@anas2ab @danielfoch your right its not true zero sum, esp for new starts, etc.
and your right again it is much better liquidity is flowing rather than stagnant.
i dont know if privleged bailout is the right approach
English

@teletonic @danielfoch It’s not zero sum. Growth from housing starts, consumer spending etc. Moving money still stimulates the economy.
I do agree though that governments are extremely wasteful.
English

@anas2ab @danielfoch shuffling money around isn't growth, it's zero sum.
the more tax/gov spend, the more wasteful spending.
English

@teletonic @danielfoch well money flowing in and out of real estate drives the economy in Canada at a large scale.. more houses, more taxable transactions, more construction, etc.
English

@anas2ab @danielfoch the biggest drainer, not driver
if it was a driver they wouldnt need to steal public funds to bailout such a poor investment

🚨 Let me explain what's actually happening
> The generation that told us phones would rot our brains is now doomscrolling harder than their grandkids
> They spent 20 years saying "get off your phone" "go outside" "you're addicted to that screen" "back in my day we talked to each other"
> Now grandma is on her iPad at 2am watching AI generated Jesus videos and sharing posts from accounts that didn't exist last week
> The funniest part is they're not even good at it.. Gen Z doomscrolls and knows it's bad for them.. Boomers doomscroll and think they're "staying informed"
The generation that banned screen time watches more screens than anyone in the house

BREAKING: Study shows “doomscrolling” is growing amongst boomers, leaving grandchildren concerned.
