He had 8 years to seriously reconnect with Bakugo or Uraraka and apparently did nothing. The emotional weight is carried almost entirely by Bakugo/Uraraka while Deku just exists

i think what many don't get is that just bc "oh, they like each other" is shown, doesn't mean there's romantic buildup & doesn't mean the audience has any reason to care for the pairing.
