Dear Viktor, I understand that there is an election campaign in your country, and that this time you are truly being challenged for power. But we do not interfere in your election campaign, nor do we want to become part of it. Sweden and the Swedish people have always been friends of Hungary and the Hungarian people, as you know. We were friends of Hungary before your government, during your government, and we will remain so after your government. We remember when Hitler’s genocide of Jews struck Hungary, and how Sweden in 1944 sent diplomat Raoul Wallenberg on a special mission to Budapest, to save as many Hungarian lives as possible. Tens of thousands of Hungarian Jews survived because we provided them with provisional protective passports and citizenship here in Sweden. When the Soviet Union later invaded Hungary, Raoul Wallenberg was forcibly taken to Moscow and disappeared. The Swedish diplomat died, but tens of thousands of Hungarian lives were saved. We would do it again. We also remember when the Soviet Union brutally crushed your Hungarian struggle for democracy and freedom in 1956, and when Prime Minister Imre Nagy was later executed for his efforts to democratize the country. When Russian tanks crushed the Hungarian freedom struggle, the Hungarian people pleaded with the UN and all Western powers for help. Almost no one listened. But one country that showed deep solidarity with you was Sweden. We opened our arms to your freedom fighters and dissidents. We allowed you to build exile opposition against Soviet communism here, despite our non-alignment. It was not without risk for us. But we did it anyway—because it was the right thing to do. Today, over 40,000 people of Hungarian descent live in Sweden, many of whom are descendants of the Hungarian refugees who came here in connection with the 1956 uprising. They are a well-integrated immigrant group in our Swedish society. Democratic states help each other, then and now. And they stand up against countries that try to oppress others. That is why, just as in 1944 and 1956, we support democratic countries that Russian tanks try to overrun. Back then, it was about Hungary; today, it is about Ukraine. And if we do not act, it could be about another country tomorrow. This is also why we often express concern about the developments in Hungary in recent years. Hungary ultimately regained its freedom, but freedom must also be defended. That is why we question when you go to have coffee with the leader of the same country that crushed your compatriots’ freedom struggle in 1956 and that today attacks your neighbour, Ukraine. Hungary and the West are not strengthened by closing the door to their European friends or by attacking each other and the very things that distinguish us from barbarism — democracy and the rule of law. Let me conclude with some wise words from yourself in 2007: “As kind of a new generation of the West, our message to those younger than we is to stick to a Western type Hungary, not to let Hungary be derailed from its Western path, and to love that Hungary is a Western type country, which means that we believe in the free will of people and in the mutual responsibility towards each other that we take upon us, which are inseparable parts of Western culture. The oil might come from the east, but freedom always comes from the west. And democracy cannot be directed from above, it can only grow from the hearts of people and in this way create a viable, Hungarian life.” Finally, I wish to convey Sweden’s respect for the Hungarian people, and to wish your country a free, peaceful, and successful election.

Acum 36 de ani, în comuna mea, Vulcan, s-a oprit timpul. A venit Ion Iliescu. Și a ieșit tot satul să-l vadă, ca la urs. A fost ultima dată când am văzut atâta lume adunată la Primărie și prima dată când am văzut un Opel Vectra. Pentru un puștan, mașina aia era viitorul. N-aveam de unde să știu că omul de lângă ea ne va fura mai bine de un deceniu din el. Între timp, bătrânii s-au mai dus, iar tinerii, prea mulți, au plecat în Vest. Eu am fugit la București imediat după facultatea la Brașov. Am fost la un pas să emigrez în Germania în 2003. Nu mai știu de ce n-am făcut-o. Poate pentru că abia atunci, după 14 ani de la Revoluție, sistemul începea să iasă din starea de hibernare. La Brașov era trist în anii 2000, dar la București, în 2003, făceam foamea cu un soi de speranță. Era un "dezgheț" dureros de lent. Apoi, dintr-o dată, am intrat în NATO și în UE. Am primit o șansă. Dar să fim clari: șansa n-a venit de la securiștii din PSD reconvertiți în "democrați". A venit de la americani și de la UE, care ne-au aruncat o linie de salvare. Au pompat zeci de miliarde de euro știind că vor fi furate de mafia lui Iliescu, dar sperând că niște firimituri vor ajunge și la noi, jos, și vor trezi ceva în societate. Da, cred că Iliescu și rețeaua de securiști care ne țin încă în lesă ne-au furat zeci de miliarde și, mai grav, timp prețios din viață. Au avut grijă să-și împartă țara, bucată cu bucată, înainte să ne dea și nouă voie la un trai decent. O fac și azi, cu alte metode. Când am aflat recent că a căzut bolnav, eram în mașină. Și deși nu o fac niciodată, l-am blestemat. Cred că Cineva, Sus, are un sistem de feedback instant, pentru că m-a luat radarul în următoarele două minute, deși eram convins că ieșisem din localitate. Karma e un algoritm perfect. Atunci mi-am amintit de ce nu înjur și nu blestem. Așa că nu-l mai blestem. Cred că a trăit destul cât să simtă exact ce simțim și noi pentru el. Ion Iliescu nu va intra în istorie ca un lider iubit. Istoria corectă va spune că a ales Occidentul doar pentru că la Est nu mai exista un Comitet Central cu care să negocieze, iar oferta de la Vest era de nerefuzat. Și poate, doar poate, i-a fost frică de noi pentru un al patrulea mandat. Măcar pentru asta să-l iertăm puțin? Pentru mineriade și pentru milioanele de români plecați la muncă de foame, ca niște refugiați economici, nu știu cine l-ar putea ierta. Știu însă pe cineva care îl idolatrizează și îl copiază. Iar simplul fapt că știți din prima la cine mă gândesc ar trebui să ne dea fiori. Memoria românilor e scurtă. Amintirea despre epoca Iliescu se va topi și va fi remodelată de un algoritm în altceva, în ceva convenabil, dacă noi, cei care am trăit acele vremuri, nu spunem adevărul nostru. Brut, direct, personal. Spuneți-vă povestea! Așa le arătăm că AJUNGE! celor care cred că ne mai trebuie unul ca el. Adevărul nostru e cel mai bun firewall împotriva minciunii.

Îți dai seama că omu' are textier. Cineva i le scrie. Că dacă îl lași singur îți spune că sunt nanocipuri in Pepsi. Omu' e trims cu text. Și s-a dus acolo rusul plin de metafore la el, s-a suit pe o colină. Și a început să le dea expresii frumoase oamenilor cu apa în case.

Today is the 76th anniversary of the start of Operation Priboi. In just 4 days, the Soviet Union forcibly deported 100 000 Estonians, Latvians and Lithuanians to the depths of Siberia after declaring them "enemies of the state" More than 70% of them were women and children.

@visegrad24 The Soviet Union only became the victim in WW2 because Germany invaded them. Before that, they were as much an aggressor as Germany was.

Long story short: Lui Zelenski i s-a întins o capcană - în fața ziariștilor, în Biroul Oval, JD Vance trebuia să-l umilească sau să-l provoace. Zelenski a răspuns, nu s-a lăsat umilit, dar a fost politicos. Cel care și-a ieșit din fire a fost Donald Trump, care și-a arătat adevărata față. Zelenski a povestit cum a semnat acord de încetare a focului cu Putin (impreună cu Merkel și Macron) în 2019, iar apoi Putin l-a călcat în picioare, în 2022. Zelenski a explicat foarte clar de ce această încetare a focului NU trebuie să fie un răgaz acordat Rusiei pentru a se reface și a reporni ostilitățile. Asta este desigur interpretarea mea. Fanii lui Trump vor spune probabil că Trump a avut dreptate. Din punctul meu de vedere, poporul ucrainean NU merită așa ceva, iar bravul lor președinte nu se putea lăsa umilit, pe el și pe toți ai lui, de acești măscărici tranzacționali care de facto cer Ucrainei să capituleze și să-și dea și resursele americanilor, fără ca americanii să fie implicați cu garanții directe. Nota bene - Putin i-a transmis lui Trump că și Rusia are minerale rare, dacă vrea să le exploateze în comun. Ce l-ar împiedica deci pe Trump să-și ia rahaturile de minerale dintr-o Ucraină ocupată de ruși? Nimic/nimeni. Asta e capcana pe care ucrainenii și europenii au sesizat-o. Apoi Trump l-a dat afară. Musai, musai să vedeți video din știre. E un moment istoric, dar încă e greu de spus care vor fi consecințele lui. Slava Ukraini!
