That is exactly not how transformation works. It doesn’t move us to do good works. It gives us a completely different nature. When transformation occurs, whatever you consider the sin nature to be, suddenly becomes quiet. And the nature of Jesus suddenly gets really easy to do. It’s like your default programming shifts. You start to automatically respond like Jesus would.

@Liz_Wheeler Just because he talks about the poor doesn’t mean he is advocating for socialism. That’s a ridiculous statement.

Pope Leo has seemed to insinuate Christians should support socialism. But his pastoral statements don't match official Church teaching on socialism. Let's review. This is what he posted last week: "Hundreds of millions of people throughout the world are immersed in extreme poverty. Yet, disproportionate wealth remains in the hands of a few. It is an unjust scenario, in the face of which we cannot fail to question ourselves and commit to change things. There is no lack of resources at the root of disparities, but the need to address solvable problems related to a more equitable distribution of wealth, to be achieved with moral sense and honesty." We should give the Pope the benefit of the doubt in the sense that we should look for what good he could mean with his words—you look for what pastoral wisdom he could offer. But I believe there is no misunderstanding the Pope here, when he talks about an equitable distribution of wealth. This does create a little bit of a sticky situation for Catholics who want to be respectful and deferential to the successor of Saint Peter. At the same time, we recognize that the Catechism of the Catholic Church has explicitly condemned socialism: "The Church has rejected the totalitarian and atheistic ideologies associated in modem times with 'communism' or 'socialism.'"  CCC, 2425

@andrewj081981 @gospel4grace @CassandraRules Unending. For me, the real question is, do you believe that Christ has conquered the flesh, or do you believe we have to fight the flesh till we die? I believe that if we learn to live by the Spirit, than the flesh becomes a non-issue. This us also my experience.
