Why put rectangles inside of rectangles (windows inside screens). It isn’t needed. Here is my pet project that runs on Windows 10/11. It captures each window and pushes frames wirelessly to my Meta Quest 3. Client is made using WebXR and AFrame. Hand tracked input is next.

@louksd @PalmerLuckey I’ll have to pick up a copy next time I see it at Game Over Games. I usually avoid games adapted from movies, but this one sounds good.

@andrewtek @PalmerLuckey Funny, I was just playing the Ep. III game over the weekend for the first time (it's quite nice), so I overlooked that we haven't heard much about ModRetro's GBA development lately... Good catch!

Something interesting I noticed in Star Wars Episode III: Revenge of the Sith for Game Boy Advance: The strange but iconic movie line, "If you are not with me, then you're my enemy!" was changed to "If you are not with me, then you're against me!" All other lines are untouched.

Some questions for @WalkaboutMG … 1. Will Walkabout Mini Golf be coming to Steam Frame. If so… 2. Will we have cross-play with our Quest friends? 3. Will we be able to re-buy the base game and have our collection of courses, found balls and clubs come with us?

@afoxdesign @RandomCoolGuy85 What will you be doing in Thailand? Work or vacation/holiday? A couple of my friends went there with family in December. They loved it. Tasty food and amazing scenery.

@andrewtek @andrewpprice sweet!! yeah, i had been trying to write software rasterizers back then but never really finished anything. it was kinda dumb though, cause i think opengl existed, and i never heard of it, so just went to write my own from scratch in software

Approximately 30% of Blender's Dev Fund budget come from companies actively developing AI LLMs, tools and technologies. If they cancelled, Blender would lose €852,000 per year in funding, and likely need to fire 1-in-3 developers.

@cybereality @andrewpprice I remember writing a “fast” 3d rasterizer in Java. Java was not fast back then (late 90s, early 00s), but with the right JRE and optimization, “fast” for Java was achievable. Then I saw what 3dfx was making available so I wrote my own JNI wrappers into Glide. Very fun project!

@andrewtek @andrewpprice people probably don't remember (and not sure if software emulation recaptures this) but 3dfx had *way* different looking colors back then. it was like HDR OLED compared to GL/DX. i played forsaken on a voodoo card and it was incredible

@cybereality @andrewpprice Before Cuda, there was 3dfx, Voodoo, Glide and SLI. Games that had Glide support looked so amazing. I remember getting the Glide update for Descent; nothing ever looked that good before it.

@mattpocockuk This has some echoes to the late 90s and early 00s. I remember developers getting JavaScript from websites and copy/pasting without reading or understanding how it worked. We got through that then and I suspect we will do it again now. Coaching and mentoring goes a long way.

What do you do if someone on your team is using AI negligently? I.e. not reviewing, not caring, leaning into the slop. This, of course, was a problem pre-AI. But the "code is cheap" mind virus is making it worse IMO.

@Scobleizer That’s awesome! You have connections everywhere; now I want to build it. 🤠 Directing agents definitely makes these kinds of feature requests more trivial. I primarily use Codex but imagine Tesla/XAI/Grok will be something else when its dev tooling levels up. It’ll be so fast…

@LLMJunky @jun_song I was lucky enough to not only get a founders edition 3090 from Best Buy, but I had a 10% birthday discount and ended up getting it for (I think) $150 below MSRP.

@jun_song original launch price is a bit of a misnomer. most of these GPUs were around $2000 at launch except for the vanilla Nvidia variant, which was more or less impossible to find.

Why I personally don't recommend the RTX 3090 for Local LLMs: While it offers fantastic inference performance for the price, there are a few major drawbacks. > The biggest issue: Durability. If you buy a used 3090, there's a high risk it was heavily abused for crypto mining. > The power consumption is absolutely massive. > Extreme heat. It's one of the hottest GPUs out there and will literally heat up your entire room. > Used prices have gone up so much that they are almost back to the original launch price. Make sure to carefully weigh the pros and cons before making a purchase!

The dev team did a great job balancing the whole battle system. Very satisfying. Looking forward to playing through with the 3rd character.

My wife and recently picked up Slay the Spire when Steam had it on sale. What a fun game. We were super lucky on our first run with The Silent - picking up good cards, events, shops, potions and relics … the Act III boss went down with us still at 3/4 health.

@andrewpprice @MrBeast Are people confused by the wording? Am I? Why would anyone press the blue switch? Blue puts you in jeopardy and requires others to put themselves in jeopardy to save you. The red switch introduces no such jeopardy to anyone. Blue is a gamble, red is non-participation.

Everyone on earth takes a private vote by pressing a red or blue button. If more than 50% of people press the blue button, everyone survives. If less than 50% of people press the blue button, only people who pressed the red button survive. Which button would you press? BE HONEST.

@Lexcyn @linusgsebastian @Snapdragon I hoped Prism would be good enough when I bought my Surface Pro. But, since I needed MS Team Foundation Services, I was out of luck. For a Pro device to come with Windows 11 Home, and after upgrading it still could not run first party professional dev tools, it was disappointing.

@andrewtek @linusgsebastian @Snapdragon That's not entirely true. Microsoft has a similar compatibility layer to Rosetta called Prism and like 98% of applications work fine with it. I am not sure what TFSVC is but yea, Microsoft DOES need to do better with their own tools. Took them forever to get RSAT ARM native

Sorry @linusgsebastian but I disagree that Windows on ARM can't take on Apple's M-series and the Neo. The @Snapdragon X series still provides the *best* experience of Windows IMO (responsiveness, fluidity, battery life, etc) compared to x86.

@LLMJunky I occasionally do the after agent tasks; less now than a few weeks ago: “What factors impacted the token use of the prior task? How could the request have been improved to be more efficient with tokens?” Biggest factors tuned early on were scoping and task review processes.

small tip: after you run a skill, it's not a terrible idea to ask the agent if there's anything in the skill itself that can be updated to make it more efficient. i'm always updating and refining mine to not only be faster, but use fewer tokens. primarily applies to complexity.
