CAF may have opened a Pandora’s box. Apparently, in the 1976 Afcon finals Morocco left the pitch for 15 minutes because of a decision they did not like, only to return and win and become champions. Guinea may feel shortchanged.

@TimKalyegira You are not serious. Your data is fake. Kinyarwanda is the most widely spoken language in Rwanda. You are not serious! Please do not take me literally. I am being facetious. I know you said "USED" and you did your research. I was preparing you for a backlash. Interesting data.

@TimKalyegira @wekesa_amos I said the same thing about Ethiopia and the schisms in pre- and post-Independence Uganda. There are bigger fish to fry than advocating for a national language that will neither unite Ugandans nor improve their HDI.

@wekesa_amos In my view, Luganda is best left as it is -- the informal lingua franca of most of Uganda. The moment the government tries to make it the official language by law, all the ethnic tensions, rivalries, and bitterness of the last 100 years will erupt into the open. Ask Ethiopia.

Luganda as a language Speaking Luganda in Uganda has never divided us( in fact we love), what divides us is a discussion around it becoming a national language.

If you believe @HEBobiwine is wrong to lobby the West, you're ignorant of today's geopolitics and diplomacy's role in African politics. Benefit-driven diplomacy is truly transforming the world. Congo is normalizing now because Tshisekedi lobbied Washington.

@Ainomugisha_A @GabrielBuule @HEBobiwine I will supplement your point. Rwanda has suffered a setback after President Tshisekedi signed a pact with the “devil”. But will Congolese benefit from these corporations “investing” in Congo? Nope. Only a handful of Congolese elites and Multinationals will. À la Mobutu!

@GabrielBuule @HEBobiwine Hehe, Do you know DRC or u just hear about it? DRC has hundreds of militias. It is not just M23. It will take decades, if not centuries for it to stabilise. Also, giving out its rare earth minerals in exchange of 'peace' that is not sustainable won't make any major impact.

@wekesa_amos @GODFREY_Kutesa That is the reality. We have to learn from those realities. There multiethnic countries in Africa better governed than Uganda which don’t have national languages or demand one.

@wekesa_amos @GODFREY_Kutesa Amharic is widely spoken but Ethiopia is divided. What is the history of Luganda, English and Kiswahili in pre and post colonial Uganda? That should tell you why a national language is a controversial topic.

But Luganda is widely being spoken anyways, are we polarized? So we should in your considered opinion that we advocate for foreign languages for both national and official languages? Why should one of our own be? We hate one of our own being a national language? That reasoning goes down into other things including matters of the economy!

@wekesa_amos @GODFREY_Kutesa A national language should unite all people and should not be perceived as hegemonic in a multiethnic country like Uganda. Kenya and Tanzania have that advantage, Uganda does not. There are more important things to focus on. The country is already divided.

CAF no longer stands for Confederation of African Football. It stands for Corruption of African Football. The punishments and fines aware handed out, why award the Championship to Morocco two months late? Worse, they reduced the fines of Morocco.

PATRIOTIC LEAGUE OF UGANDA
PLU NEWS; The Chief of Defence Forces and Senior Presidential Advisor for Special Operations, General Muhoozi Kainerugaba @mkainerugaba yesterday evening hosted retired United States Army Lieutenant General Michael Thomas Flynn to a dinner at Serena Hotel Kigo. During the engagement, Gen Kainerugaba thanked Lt Gen Flynn for taking time to visit the country, describing the meeting as the beginning of a meaningful relationship. “We used to study some of his papers when we were at Fort Leavenworth and we are honoured that he is here with us. I believe this is the beginning of a very consequential and important relationship,” Gen Kainerugaba said. The CDF noted that much of their earlier discussions focused on the role of education in building responsible citizens and future leaders. He emphasised the importance of educating young people to love their country, value their nation and uphold strong moral values. According to Gen Kainerugaba, the discussions also explored the potential role of the military in strengthening education systems and leadership development among young people. He explained that the Uganda Peoples’ Defence Forces already runs military primary and secondary schools which follow the national curriculum set by the Ministry of Education and Sports, but noted that there may be lessons to learn from the United States model. Gen Kainerugaba cited the Reserve Officers' Training Corps (ROTC), a program integrated within schools that prepares young people for leadership and military service. “Perhaps we need to think about how we can develop something similar within our own system,” he said. #PLUUpdate
