Just over a year old, but still the best summary of how the Govt has communicated its Covid measures 👏👏👍😎🙄😉

@DurhamWASP @SelinaStreet100 Sixty isn’t particularly old, unless you are E Waugh. He was old at forty. I love him anyway.

@JohnSimpsonNews Did they have a crystal ball at the time John? Hindsight's 20/20 isn't it. Should Govt be making detailed assessments of who should own footie clubs? Who approved the sale to Abramovich?! Shame you feel the need to make cheap party-political points - not what we expect from you.

Many Chelsea supporters think the decision to sell Chelsea FC to the US consortium BlueCo in 2022 was unwise and has worked out badly. Just to remind you, the culture secretary responsible for approving the deal was Nadine Dorries, and the prime minister was Boris Johnson.

@PD_GTA @crockpics Not in LA. The original was, and still is, in London, and opened in the late 1960s 🍔.

Jim Morrison and Ray Manzarek of The Doors at the original Hard Rock Cafe in Los Angeles, 1969. Photo by Henry Diltz, this location was an actual dive bar on Skid Row, completely unrelated to the massive global restaurant chain we know today! What is your favorite track from the Morrison Hotel album?

@crockpics Yeah, absolutely 🍔. The original Hard Rock Cafe was on Piccadilly in London, and it's still there 👍. Can't remember when it opened but I think it was late 1960s - the date is shown above the entrance I think. It does the biggest most brilliant Chocolate Sundae I've ever had!

@AaronBastani @SBarrettBar Errr... Aaron, do you not remember 9/11 and 7/7? Sadly, M*slims are not averse to suicide bombing when they feel the need. Put a nuclear device on a commercial airliner. Get air traffic control permission to fly it into a London airport. It's not difficult to construct a plan...

@SBarrettBar How would an Iranian nuke reach Britain? They don’t have long range bombers or long range ballistic missiles (Khameini overtly blocked the IRGC from doing this). So presumably you think they’d just randomly dirty bomb Britain?

Iran told America that it had enough material for 5 nuclear bombs The idea that London would not be on the list is for the birds America, Quatar and Israel are fighting to defend us.

@GezzWales @TheSolarShed That's why the Govt should form trained regional teams to do it. The experience they will quickly gain as they outfit houses plus the economies of scale they'll benefit from in terms of materials, equipment etc will bring down the cost. The Sun will then make the work profitable!

@andyosb @TheSolarShed It's massively more expensive to outfit homes than build a solar farm in a field. Car parks are also a great place to build solar arrays. Houses only good if you can afford the installation

Each one of these solar panels cost around £100 At today's rates, each has produced electricity to the value of £1400 They will be 8 yrs old in June. Now tell me that solar energy doesn’t work in cloudy old Britain

@TheSolarShed It would be a Govt investment, just like building a nuclear power station. No-one seems to argue with the huge £ cost involved in that! - including all the extra (often unknown!) costs of high security, future decommissioning etc. Solar panels on every roof may even be cheaper!

@TheSolarShed Every new UK house should have solar panels covering its roof (at least for south facing roofs) & the Govt should set up "roving" regional teams to install solar panels (for free) on south-facing roofs of all existing houses & public buildings & link them to the electricity grid

@crowmogh @TheSolarShed Problem is existing developers are always going to have a tendency to "game" the system - we've seen it with other initiatives. Best approach to just "get it done" properly will be for Govt to buy panels from private suppliers & form & manage roving regional teams installing them

Now that I’ve watched this interview I feel our national interest and security are in safe hands. And I can see why we strike fear and terror into our enemies, from the Kremlin to Tehran.

@nunnas22 @TheSolarShed It should easily pay for itself as a "national" investment in long term renewable energy generation - the TOTAL cost of solar panels on every roof will probably be a lot cheaper than one new nuclear power station! - and noone seems to question the cost of that do they?! 😉

@TheSolarShed @andyosb I assume they mean the government would pay companies like yours to install them. You would actually benifit from an up turn in business. But where would the money come from. Higher taxes probably, so it’s a total non starter. Although under Labour he knows.

@TheSolarShed If climate change is a crisis for humanity & fossil fuel prices are going through the roof our Govt response should be to go on a "war footing". So if solar panels are such a good energy investment every roof should have them - and the Govt should make it happen for the nation

@BladeoftheS 3. Our Govt taxes all oil extracted by the PLCs all the way down the line to the final customers. For example we should all know by now that 60% of the UK petrol price is our Govt's taxes, used to pay welfare benefits etc so people like you can sit at home tweeting marxist shite

@BladeoftheS 2. There's no guarantee the PLC will find any oil. If it does it then invests further in extracting it via massive production platforms. Our Govt then taxes all the oil the PLC extracts at a high % rate. The PLC has taken all the risk, investing huge £ in searching for oil

Even if every single drop of oil and every puff of gas was extracted from the North Sea oil fields it wouldn't lower energy prices in the UK by one penny. Because it is 100% privatised and owned by foreign billionaires who will sell it to whoever pays the most.
