Congrats to @DraperVC portfolio company @XanaduAI on listing on @NasdaqExchange! Xanadu follows a long line of Draper quantum computing companies: @dwavequantum and @rigetti before them. Over ten years ago we backed those two on superconducting principles. Then @TimDraper found @_cweedbrook in 2019, and we went all in on photonics. Thank you team Xanadu for leading us to the next phase of quantum computing. More via @BNNBloomberg bnnbloomberg.ca/video/shows/th…

@sama It isn’t easy yet but ChatGPT gives the patient much more power than before. We gave 6 examples of how we used Chat for my cancer during an OpenAI forum talk last week forum.openai.com/public/events/… There are many companies trying to democratize vaccine development with AI, I’m a big fan of Serova serova.bio

The coolest meeting I had this week with was Paul, who used ChatGPT and other LLMs to create an mRNA vaccine protocol to save his dog Rosie. It is amazing story. "The chat bots empowered me as an individual to act with the power of a research institute - planning, education, troubleshooting, compliance, and yes, real scientific design work in converting genomic data to a vaccine prescription and designing the treatment protocol around it. But they worked alongside humans at every step. The combination is what made it possible." It immediately got me thinking "this should be a company". Also, Paul is an extraordinary guy. This should be easy to do, but it is not yet.

For those of us in venture, this changes how we think about team building at seed and Series A. Starting a company and creating employment used to be nearly synonymous. Now it's not. We're in the early innings of figuring out what that means for workers, wages, and the broader economy. The founders who figure that out early are going to have a serious structural advantage over those who default to hiring their way to scale. @feltsensefund @MarikHazan

Turbo.AI is a great example. 8.5 million users and $1M a month in revenue with 13 employees. Two years ago that would have required over 100 people. This isn't the end of hiring. But it redefines what a founding team needs to look like at the early stages.

@FortuneMagazine ran a piece this week on how AI is fueling a new wave of startups, and I was happy to share what I've been seeing on the ground. The short version: the best founders right now aren't just building with AI - they're using it as leverage to do more with less, faster than any previous generation. Across the startups I've been talking to, the average engineering team has shrunk by about a third. Not because of budget cuts, but because putting money into AI tools is delivering better returns than adding headcount. We're talking 3-5x the code output at a fraction of the cost. As I discussed with Marco Quiroz Gutierrez, if you do the math, you don't need nearly as many engineers to get to the same output. fortune.com/2026/03/22/ai-…

Third, and more interesting, central bank behaviour. Over the past few years, central banks have been a major source of demand for gold, steadily shifting reserves away from dollars. That’s been a key pillar of the bull case. But in an environment of rising energy costs, disrupted trade, and tighter liquidity, some countries may need to use reserves rather than accumulate them. That changes the dynamic. If central banks are no longer consistently buying gold (or are even selling) the structural support weakens. That shift matters more than the short-term price move. Also worth noting: Bitcoin is up over the same period. Different assets, different roles in the system.

Gold is supposed to rally during geopolitical shocks. Instead, it’s down ~15% since the Iran conflict began, which is a signal worth paying attention to. Three things are driving this. 👇

"2 billion people don't have a national identity. When they get one through blockchain, you have disruption. It's going to be a massive change." That's the scale of what's at stake. And it's why being in the US this week felt important. This week, the Cardano Foundation was across the US. @F_Gregaard in New York with @YahooFinance, @GBBC_io, and @FINTECHTVglobal. And today, our CLO Nicolas Jacquemart is in Washington DC speaking at @MerkleScience's Merkle Meet DC 2026. Two cities. The same questions. That's what drives our work.

Cardano gives open access to financial and economic tools to anyone with an internet connection. Access is not decided by geography, political alignment, or credit history. Those systems are built on gatekeeping, where a small number of institutions define who can participate and on what terms. On Cardano, the rules are enforced at the protocol level. Transactions settle deterministically, smart contracts execute as written, and access is permissionless. There is no central party approving a loan, blocking activity, or assigning a score that defines your options. A wallet is enough to interact with lending, trading, staking, or to deploy your own logic on chain. Identity is not a prerequisite, and participation is not conditional on status or location. This matters because it shifts control from institutions to individuals. The constraints move from social and political structures to code and infrastructure. What you can do becomes a function of what you build or choose to use, not who you are. The barrier is simple and consistent. You just need an internet connection.

A question came up regarding the difference between “Cardano-native” and “Cardano-integrated” builders in the Orion Fund proposal. Here's the difference: ➡️Cardano-native Teams already building within the Cardano ecosystem today, using Cardano as their primary and often sole development layer. These builders strengthen the network by continuing to develop applications and infrastructure directly on Cardano. ➡️Cardano-integrated Established projects from outside the ecosystem that deploy or integrate onto Cardano, bringing new users, liquidity, and activity to the network. These integrations will be evaluated through clear KPIs, including the measurable value their integration brings to the ecosystem.
