Genuinely curious—why don’t more people use their own parents/kid’s grandparents for childcare as opposed to daycare/preschool/nannies (which seem more common)? Is it common for boomer grandparents to show disinterest in their grandchildren?

@Madz_Grant My parents were always awake way before me, at like 5-6 am. I can’t think of a time I was ever up first. I do get up with my kids, but my oldest is a toddler.

I've noticed amongst friends who have little kids that they are basically forced into waking up when they do. When I was little I remember v clearly knowing that we shouldn't go and wake parents until at least 9am on a weekend, and generally entertaining ourselves in the morning

@JillCo I have two children under the age of 3, and I don’t take them to chic coffee shops. We go to more family-friendly restaurants with a kids menu and a lot of noise being the norm, or parks and ice cream shops.

Today I went to a chic coffee shop with my 3 children (I'm a latte addict personally). I walked in - and not even one person had a child and everyone was staring at us. I could sense the annoyance around us when my baby starting whimpering to come out of his stroller and my 4 year old was laughing just a little too loud. It wasn't imagined either - I could feel the negative energy around me. I'm noticing a lot of spaces are becoming very anti-child. It's not just restaurants at dinner any longer. It's everywhere - grocery stores, libraries, swimming pools, etc. because so many people don't have kids and don't want them (*ancestor cry*). It's like the presence of a baby or child is very off-putting for the childless - simply out of their own contempt. A society that hates children is a society with no future at all. It's a dead zone with soulless people only existing.

Things that are unnecessarily complicated: Online recipes. I don’t need your life story, a vineyard tour, and three paragraphs about your grandmother’s herb garden. Just tell me how long to bake the chicken. Also the 15 minute prep time is a lie. That took me an hour.

This man complains that his daughter stays in her room all day and doesn’t enjoy talking to him and his wife. Whenever she does come down for food or water, he’s always reminding her that when she turns 18 either she can move out or pay rent. I never understood why people do this as a scare tactic to teach kids responsible. Is it possible that his interactions like this is actually damaging his relationship with his daughter. Isn’t he giving her a vibe that he doesn’t want her around or is this a part of teaching her responsibility?

@bushido_hk @maira4yo I had two healthy babies and pregnancies over 35. The biggest complications I know of were in younger moms. A lot of it is the dad’s DNA, genes, or just random, not age.

@maira4yo The "geriatric pregnancy" label at 35 is such medical gaslighting. My sister had her healthiest pregnancy at 38 after two difficult ones in her twenties.

Women are in there 40s having healthy pregnancies, healthy delivery & a heathy baby. Please don’t let doctors and society scare you into thinking 35 is the cut off that data IS OLD AND OUTDATED

@maira4yo Taking care of an eight-year-old when you’re 50 is the hard part. 60 when they finally go off to college. And today many kids need to live at home longer. Then your high school friends’ kids are having kids that are the same age as yours.

im still trying to figure out what the mythical “third space for teens” is that was apparently 100% free, abundantly entertaining, provided food/snacks and wasn’t educational. people keep talking about this place like it existed but never can give an example of what it was 😭
