Just got some interior work done remotely. Coz I was away, the contractor was trying to pass off inferior fittings. If you are not looking, there are high chances someone will steal. India is a low trust society, because deep down everyone feels someone above is stealing from them. So they are justified in stealing their share. People steal coz A) they think they won’t be caught B) they won’t be convicted. There are 5 crore pending cases out there, people don’t want to file a case for a petty theft, coz the process is the punishment. There are so many cases pending, that timely justice is not possible. We need to fix the judiciary, to fix the trust in the society. Judicial reforms will have a multiplier effect.
