Exciting news: Our latest research shows influenza antibody CR9114 protects intranasally against #avianflu incl. #H5N1 in vivo. Continued spread of H5N1 among animals has increased the importance of pandemic preparedness. Read our paper in @SciReports: bit.ly/48laZdF

If everyone you know is suddenly getting “food poisoning”, just FYI that it is probably not actually food poisoning but is instead norovirus. Norovirus (sometimes called “stomach flu” but not actually flu) is seasonal, and right now in the US it is norovirus season.

For speedy rollout, the intranasal spray should be readily available (hence it should protect against both known and unknown viruses). How many hospitalizations are prevented depends on (1) treatment efficacy, (2) the duration of use, and (3) how many people use it.

Could intranasal sprays for passive immunization help with pandemic preparedness? Our mathematical models - based on 1000s of scenarios - show that for COVID-19, they could have...(1) delayed the spread and (2) reduced hospitalizations. Speedy rollout in the first two months...

Why does chatGPT make up fake academic papers? By now, we know that the chatbot notoriously invents fake academic references. E.g. its answer to the most cited economics paper is completely made-up (see image). But why? And how does it make them? A THREAD (1/n) 🧵
