The US Administration has been extremely generous over many years, and it is within its rights to decide what it supports, and to what extent.
But the abrupt cuts in funding from the US are putting at risk decades of progress in various health programmes across the world. We ask the US to engage in dialogue with affected countries so plans can be made to transition to more sustainable solutions, without disruptions that cost lives.
We call on other donors and the countries that have relied on US financing to step up -- to the extent they can.

I fear the consequences of a full-scale incursion into Rafah, where well over a million people are sheltering in crowded conditions, lacking food, water, medicine, and out of options for where to go.
We appeal to #Israel to consider the humanitarian implications. We repeat our call for a #ceasefire and peace to prevail.

Horrified by the reports about killing of civilians, including @PalestineRCS staff, at the Al Amal hospital compound today and in the past two days in Khan Younis, #Gaza.
We cannot say it louder: hospitals MUST be protected, not attacked nor militarised. Ceasefire!

.@WHO is appalled by the effective destruction of Kamal Adwan hospital in northern #Gaza over the last several days, rendering it non-functional and resulting in the death of at least 8 patients.
Many health workers were reportedly detained, and WHO and partners are urgently seeking information on their status.
We learned that many patients had to self-evacuate at great risk to their health and safety, with ambulances unable to reach the facility. Of the deceased patients, several died due to lack of adequate health care, including a 9-year-old child.
We are extremely concerned for the well-being of the internally displaced people who are reportedly sheltering in the hospital building.
Gaza’s health system was already on its knees, and the loss of another even minimally functioning hospital is a severe blow.
Attacks on hospitals, health personnel and patients must end. Ceasefire NOW.

Given the disproportionate impact on women and children in #Gaza, where they account for 70% of the deaths, and understanding that military measures cannot lead to a lasting solution, it becomes clear that a ceasefire and a pursuit of a political resolution offer the way out of this mess/tragedy. Ceasefire now!
