@sbuckshum @R3beccaF Exactly increased equality from language tech innovations leading to a focus on the ideas. So many evaluations have focused on superficial writing skills and not the ideas, progress and innovation.

@R3beccaF I would say No. A Best Paper requires excellent presentation even to be in the running, but is awarded for its outstanding ideas and arguments, methods or technology. The future is one in which first language becomes irrelevant thanks to language tech.

@TristanSnell Our prime minister apparently couldn’t even recall what the laws were when he was implementing them. THATS his defence for partygate.

If you can't recall your own tweets, can't recall your own TV appearances, can't recall your own speeches, can't recall your own phone calls, and can't recall trying to organize an illegal effort to overturn an election, then maybe you should be recalled from Congress.

Very thrilled to share that I defended my thesis this afternoon, and passed with minor corrections. I’m very grateful for the insights and contributions of my examiners, and we had a fantastic viva together. Thank you to all. ⁦@OUGradSch⁩ ⁦@OU_WELS⁩ ⁦@IETatOU

@MitchBenn During a local elections one conservative stated; Everyone can send their children to private school they just need to make cut backs, sell the second car. I’ve seen children in the UK starving and not having shoes, they live in another world.

The sheer blithe ignorance of these people is just breathtaking. I should be used to it by now but it never ceases to amaze and appal.

@BBC_HaveYourSay I also have covid horror stories of family dying alone, watching funeral videos etc. But my question hasn’t been asked yet. Why was Downing Street full of workers, they don’t need to operate on people so everyone could and should have been working from home.

@actualham Sounds like it would be constructive dismissal - in the UK legal system. They put you in an untenable position with only resignation being the only solution. Crazy thing is that this doesn’t make people or the workplace more effective, just more observable.

@sueperkins PM is either - liar and so shouldn’t run this country OR incompetent not knowing what’s going on with his team so shouldn’t run this country. I’d say he’s both.

In the spirit of destigmatising #failure I am disappointed to share that my application for promotion this year was unsuccessful. I've had an internal rant, now time to get over it, learn from it, and do something different next time.
