During last month’s federal election, one of Mark Carney's most common slogans was "a plan beats no plan." Conservatives wholeheartedly agree. That's why it is so unacceptable that, today, Carney confirmed that he, in fact, has no plan and the government will not table a budget. As Canadian families struggle with rising costs and businesses face the crushing weight of American tariffs, the Liberal government is walking away from their responsibilities. After months of building expectations and promising serious leadership, Carney announced he will deliver nothing. Canadians were told that Mark Carney, the supposed serious economist, would bring competence and clarity. Instead, we’re getting delays and dysfunction. Parliament has already been shut down for nearly half a year. Now, in the face of serious economic threats, the Liberals don’t intend to present a budget this year. There is no roadmap forward, no economic vision, and no willingness to lead. This is not the leadership Mark Carney promised—it’s abandonment. Canadians deserve more. They deserve a government that shows up when it matters most, especially when paycheques are at risk and businesses are struggling to stay afloat. The failure to table a budget in this moment is not just an oversight; it’s a betrayal of workers and families across the country who expected this government to lay out its plan. The longest ballot committee is looking to run 200 candidates in Pierre’s byelection in Alberta. The group claims they do this to protest our parliamentary system. Since this is the only riding in the byelection, no one with a critical mind believes that. If it were truly about our system, they would run 80+ more candidates in every riding in any election. I plan to draft a letter to @ElectionsCan_E requesting they disallow this tact based on accessibility issues voiced by voters as well as the @cef_cce Commissioner of #Canada Elections Perrault who himself raised public warnings about issues. When I post it, I need everyone that follows me to copy and paste it in an email to the Commissioner, which I will include. If you have multiple email accounts send multiples, if you have access to emails for someone you are a caregiver to, send it from there. Print and snail mail wherever you can. This is blatant interference, itaffects ALL taxpayers of Canada who must foot the bill for excessive costs, as well as mobility/accessibility issues for anyone with vision or physical impairments. Addendum: the $500 billion borrowed at near 0%, has to be rolled-over this year and next at rates closer to 4.00%. This is an exponential increases in Ottawa’s interest burden.
