I love how many phrases Brits have for being really busy. Here’s one or two (which confusingly can actually mean a lot more than one or two):
I’m flat out
I’m up to my eyes/ears/neck in it
Snowed under
Run/rushed off my feet
It’s full on at the moment
I’m running around like a headless chicken
Haven’t had time to think
Don’t know if I’m coming or going
Burning the candle at both ends
On the go all day
It’s all hands to the pump

Three people in front of me in the post office all said, “I can’t believe it’s nearly Christmas” to the person behind the counter. To each of them, she replied, “yes, comes round so quickly”. Realising she must be hearing, “I can’t believe it’s nearly Christmas,” all day and every day this month, I decided I wouldn’t say it. I would give her a break. When I got to the front, I said, “just this box to post, thank you”. She asked what was in it and I told her the contents and said it’s just a Christmas present. “I can’t believe it’s nearly Christmas,” she said. “Yes,” I replied, “comes round so quickly”.
