@revenant_MMXX My grandmother also remarked that, having been educated by nuns, childless women are incapable of properly teaching children and should be barred from the profession. Very grateful I went to a private school and from 7th grade onward was taught mainly by men.

Stories like this may feel absurd & contrived but one needs to consider how in most developed countries, the teaching profession is what you get into if you're not good enough to do your actual field.

I had a math teacher that hated all boys. She was the head of the school’s honor society and blocked all of us from getting in to hurt our chances at getting into good colleges. She blocked me too, and I was never antagonistic towards her and I kept a low profile. One kid’s parents finally sued her for being such a psycho.
