The xz fiasco has shown how a dependence on unpaid volunteers can cause major problems. Trillion dollar corporations expect free and urgent support from volunteers. @Microsoft @MicrosoftTeams posted on a bug tracker full of volunteers that their issue is "high priority"

@HCornflower @houseparty I still see a product I made for Barracuda in 2008 show up in the "top 10 PBX" when they exited the PBX biz in 2013. Probably true though since it was based on FS, and my prototype was still running 14 years later somewhere in my basement.

@jcsteh @doug_lee42 @MorgynRae The documentation is made by the community, so the more people who contribute, the better it gets! It's often a factor of how popular a particular feature is. There are also like 5 books published if that helps.

@doug_lee42 @MorgynRae I never really played with Asterisk, but all my research suggested Freeswitch is a lot more modern, robust and extensible. That said, the documentation is bad to nonexistent, depending on what you're trying to do.
