@ThePeterMick 20 yrs old g-shock. 1 battery change. Decades of daily beating have only left a barely visible scratch on the crystal. However, bezel deteriorated and literally fell into pieces few months ago
In 2004 the Sun Fire E25k was the apex predator of computing. This was the largest single-image Unix machine that money could buy ($2M fully loaded).
This bad boy had:
• 36 UltraSPARC IV processors (72 cores)
• 576 GB RAM
• 18 fully hot swappable CPU/memory boards
• gigabit ethernet and fibre channel HBAs
• Redundant power supplies, cooling zones, draw 15kW of power
I deployed software to these things. Uptime was measured in years. This was THE ONE.
Man I miss Sun.
You are offered a job with twice the current industry pay, but you must deal with older Unix operating systems and legacy applications all day long. Would you take it? #Unix#IT#Jobs
@samuelclarke@WIRED Wired has become very politicized in 2016 and now it has become unbearable. Cancelled my subscription in 2017 but still keep old issues from 2007 in my file cabinet
Americans are taking to the streets and showing up in US cities by the thousands to protest a plethora of President Donald Trump’s second-term policies.
A WIRED guide on how to protest safely:

This graph illustrates the importance of maintaining an adequate Vitamin D blood serum level.
It also explains why illness spikes in winter. Providing Vitamin D to the population would have been far cheaper—and far more effective—than useless & harmful mass vaccination programs.
@EndWokeness@elonmusk Those in the West voting for woke parties have never experienced communism in their lives. People in the East have, I guess it explains it
@goddek@CommunityNotes Old hospitals, day cares, summer camps, sanatoriums all heavily practiced sunbathing and even night sleep in open air to improve one’s immune system. My grandparents and parents had this. My day care had this. The photo might be about polio but it still aligns with the context.
If anyone still doubts that @CommunityNotes are orchestrated and heavily influenced by Big Pharma, just take a look at these screenshots. Nearly identical wording. The same links. All designed to discredit a simple question.
This isn’t fact-checking; it’s narrative control!
@goddek@X It's okay if one's ideas don't survive in an open competition. Learn the lesson and move on, this is how one evolves. When did people become so weak and thin-skinned?
On @X, you can explore five different perspectives on any topic within a single minute—a phenomenon unmatched anywhere else. The only ones who fear this vibrant marketplace of ideas are those who know their own can’t survive in open competition.
